If you haven’t entered the photo contest don’t delay any longer. If you
have submitted a photo and failed to win a $10.00 prize—try again.
The more often you submit photos the better your chances of winning
one of the weekly awards.
Remember, there are no letters to write ... nothing to buy. No matter
what type of gas heating equipment you prefer—floor furnaces,
radiant heaters, gas circulators, gasteam radiators, central furnaces—
it is a simple matter to enter the contest. However, be sure to include
a view of some type of gas heating appliance.

In the Sewing Room
A chest of drawers- the big-
ger the better—is [fine equip-
ment for your sewing room.
The larger bottom drawer*
should be used for larger rem-
nants, but have the handy man
around the house partition the
upper drnwers into small com-
partments for ribbons, but-,
tons, trimmings, knitting .
needles, crochet hooks, scissor*
and all the accessories that col-
lect in a family sewing room.
Kitchen Kinks
Eggs will not cause the grease
to spatter when they are drop-
ped into the hot frying pan if
a little flour is added to the
hot grease first .............Foods
fried in m-tp fat will not ab-
sorb too much of the grease in
which they are fried il a tea-
spoonful of vinegar is added
to the I ot lard .......... To coat
doughnuts with sugar, put
sugar in a paper bag, shaking
doughnuts in bag to coat them.
On Cleaning Day
Rub eiian.e.cu beds with
turpentine to clean them........
To tighten loose drtsser hand-
les, place rubber washers on
inside between handles and
bolts Bran-water is useful
for cleaning rush seated chairs
The water is prepared by ad-
ding a handful ot wheat bran
to one pint of cold water and
simmer a half-hour. Strain and
add a pint of cold water.
The Family Doctor
Nitrate of silver will often
cause corns to disappear. Keep
hard corns softened by touch-
jing with vaseline night and
j morning: hard corns should
jbe rubbed smooth with fine
sandpaper, never cut. Soft
[corns should be carefully wash-
jed, dusted with talcum and a
, piece of cotton placed between,
j the toes lo separate them.
An Inspiration
"Life is not so short but
there is always time for cour-
tesy.”
"It isn’t what we have or
lack that makes us happy or
unhappy,” declares Bob Pat-
terson, "it’s what we think
about it.”
A Detroit paper records that
a man swapped his wife for a
mule. He gave as his reason
the fact that a mule is balky
only 12 hours in the day.
Thirty million American*
observed daylight saving thi*
year but none of them can ex-
plain what they did with the
daylight they saved.
"You’ve got to say this much
for the corn doctor.” declare*
Frank Dobecka, ‘'He know*
anough to start at the foot.”
Our pessimistic friend point*
out that one good way for a
girl to reduce is to make all
of her boy friends mad.
