Some thirty members of the
Texas Highway Department
were guests of Jacksboro Cham-
ber of Commerce at a barbecue
held on Old Fort Richardson
grounds last Thursday night.
W. M. Welborn, newly trans-
ferred engineer of the Fort
Worth Division, and E. C. Wood-
ward now of Wichita Falls I)i-
visior and being transferred to
the Kurt Worth Division on Sept.
and children, Mrs. Marion Miller,
Myrtle Nell Lowrance.
Officers elected for next year
were: Sterling Parrish, presi-
dent ; E. C. Myers, vice president;
Mrs. J. K. Wester, secretary-
treasurer.
Squaw Mountain
J. C. Ward of Fort Worth lias
spudded in on his No. 1 well, 18
miles northwest of Jacksboro, on
the Wm. Crowley sod.
Mr. and Mrs. John Farris held
a reunion for their family Aug.
25th, on the West Fork. About
135 were present. The children
who were present were Jack
Farris and family of McLean,
Nathan Farris and family of Hen-
rietta, Mrs. Brant Jackson and
husband of Shamrock.

Defendants, and Plaintiff’s de-
mand being in substance as fol-
lows: Being for the sum of
$95.00, due upon a promissory
note, executed by the said Union
Harley to Geo. W. Fritz & Co. on
the 21st of February, 1936, and
due and payable in installments
of Ten Dollars Monthly, and fail-
ure to pay one installment ma-
tures all installments, with inter-
est at the rate of 10% per annum,
and providing for 10% addition-
al if placed in the hands of an at-
torney for collection. Said note
now held by plaintiff and said
sum due and unpaid with inter-
est from date. /
Herein Fail Not, but have you
before said Court, at its aforesaid
.next regullar term, this writ with
your return thereon, showing
how you have executed the same.
Given under my official signa-
ture, at office in Jacksboro, this
the 31 day of August A. D. 1938.

Miss Alma McCune of Graham

and gave a brief history of the
efforts of local civic leaders in
the drive to get better roads for
the section.
Mr. Welborn was highly com-
plimentary to Jack County for
its progress and went further to
say that she had not gotten all
of the roads that were in store
for her. Like Mr. Welborn, Mr.
Woodward was highly compli-
mentary to Jacksboro for the en-
tertainment and expressed de-
sires to make progress in road
building.
Mr. J. M. Isbell, taking the
place of Mr. Woodward in the
Wichita Falls Division made a
short speech in which he thanked
the local people for the enter-
tainment.
Several prominent people were
here from Bryson, {including;
Ward Lowe and Lloyd McCLoud.;
the latter being city secretary.
In charge of the arrangements
for tile social were Kirk Stewart.
