If Air. Thomas is such an emi-
nently qualified instructor, why
has he never been called upon to
fill any position of honor or trust
by his fellow teachers ?
Mr. Gilliland admits - he voted |
for Stump Ashby for State Sena-
ator against Mr. Jarvis the Demo-
cratic nominee, aud still he is a
Democrat. Oh yes, we guess so.
Mr. Thomas, we understand, de-
nies saying that “ no one should
be allowed to vote who has no,
education.” If anyone doubts his
saying so, lot them ask tl. P. Jones.
The Independents are becoming-
desperate. They no longer work
on the you-lielp-me-and-I’ll-help-
you plan. It is everyone for himself |

Taylor says he has nothing to:
do with the conventions. Why
did he not say that when he was
trying to get Sil Stark and others
to put him in nomination before
the convention.
Judge Jones says he is an Inde-
pendent not an independent Dem-
ocrat. AYonder if he will not
write another letter to the Ga-
zette after the election declaring
that he is a Democrat?
Wester carried everything at
Post Oak last Saturday night. He I
had a crowded house, and his
hearers were enthusiatic and ap-
plauded long and loud. The Dem-
ocrats are at work out there.
