volunteered to go across the
road from Mr. Will H. Taylor’s
place and pick wild plums for
me Monday. They killed a large
rattlesnake with 10 rattlers and
a button in a place where
Mattie Lee Brown and Bea
Sparks had just vacated. Ruth
Bouldin told me Monday night
she was thinking about going to
pick plums but when I told her
about the snake, she decided
she had lost her taste for wild
plum jelly.

game for the finals.
The Fisk Community decided
last fall to sell the old school
desks that were in the Center
as they were not being used
and were in the way. We sold
about 20. I bought one. Last
Thursday I got around to
stripping off the two coats of
old paint. I was shocked to find
the names L. C. Miller Sr. and
L. C. Miller Jr. written with a
sharp pencil. L. C. Sr. was my
father and L. C. Jr. was my
brother. L. C. Jr. died in June,
1934, of blood poison just
shortly before his 17th birth-
day, tana was also written, as
was Vera (Ehrler or McQueen)
and Tommy and the initials T.
A. The desk is priceless to me
now.
