SOYBEAN SITUATION
Soybeans will likely face ups
and downs in the marketplace
this year, says an economist
with the Texait Agricultural
Extension Service, Texas A&M
University System. Since many
Texas growers have consider-
able expenses tied up in their
crop this year due to replant-
ing costs and can expect lower1
yields from late plantings, for-
ward contracting to assure a
profit on at least part of the
crop might be a good bet.
Market prices by harvest time
will depend on weather condi-
tions the rest of the growing
season, the overall U.S. crop
and export demands.
