Dies In Abilene
There were a few more at Sun-
day school Sunday morning than
Uie Sunday before, but we should
be. able to have 70 or more every
Sunday.
There was the largest crowd we
have had at singing for some time
present Sunday night. We enjoyed
having the visitors from New Cen-
tral and Talpa. Come again
We have not had a funeral for
some time here until the past
few days. Mr. Ernest Bradley or
Coleman was the first. Last Satur-
day Grandma Wilson of Abilene
was layed to rest. She has a host of
friends and relatives here that loved
her so much Mrs. Follace of New
Mexico was burled here Sunday
afternoon.
Another Coleman county pioneer,
Mrs. Matilda Blanche Wilson, pass-
ed away, June 28th, in Abilene, as
the result of a heart attack suffered
about a week before. She died, at
the home of a daughter, Mrs. G.
W Thomasson, with whom she had
made her home for several years.
Funeral services were conducted
by Minister J. P Salyer, Saturday
afternoon at 4:30 o’clock at 01«l

Mrs. Joe Vincent.
Mrs George Ely visited Earl
Snodgrass, a few minutes in the
Methodist Hospital In Fort Worth,
while she was there with her sister,
Mrs. Dora Albright Mrs. Albright
was In the Pennsylvania avenue
hospital, where she passed away
Thursday. Mrs Albright had a host
of friends and relatives here that
mourn her passing.
Mr. and Mrs James Allen and
Camille are visiting a few days
with Mr. Allen's mother at Rising
Star
Mrs Floyd Martin and children
of Valera are visiting Mr and Mrs.
W. O. Martin and Geraldine this
weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Fern Mayo and Mr
and Mrs. Morris Mayo of Fort
Worth spent the weekend with Mr
and Mrs L. W Mayo
Mr. and Mrs. Otis Mayfield and
children of New Central and Mr.
and Mrs Morris Mayo and son, Sev-
ern of Fort Worth spent. Sunday
with the Martins,
Mr. and Mrs. Ira Galloway and
son of Austin spent Thursday night
with Mr and Mrs. Will Galloway.

niversary ot Rev. T. Lynn Stew-
art as pastor of the First Baptist
church. He will deliver the anni-
versary message at 10:50 am. ser-
vice. There will be special music
with Ernest Townsen leading
A large attendance Is expected in
the Sunday school with its 10 com-
plete . departments and at 8 p.m
preaching service when the pastor
will preach on "A Natural impos-
sibility."
Matilda Blanche Perkins was born
i October 23, 1858 In Falls county,
Texas She was married to G. W.
Wilson September 1, 1880 in Run-
nels county. Later they came to
Coleman county ,to make their
home. She was a faithful mem bo i

Mrs. G W Thomasson of Abilene:

local church from the First Baptist
church, Hamilton. Texas, and be-
gan his ministry here July 4, 1943

formed 101 marriages. Over 170,000

tion is now under construction cost-
ing around 818,000.

City has been visiting relatives here
for /two weeks.
Mrs. Toppy Beavers left Saturday
night for a week's visit with Mr
and Mrs. D W. Wilder, Jr., of
Fort Smith, Ark. She was accom-
panied by Miss Neda Booth of
Brownwood.
Mr. and Mrs. Presley Galloway
are getting along fine with their
house. They had the frame work
up for some time before they could
get lumber to finish.
Mr. and Mrs Herst Laws sold
their home In Glen Cove to Sprout
Todd.
Mr and Mrs. Geo. Boyd and chil-
dren of Buckeye, N. M„ have bean
visiting two weeks with relatives
here.
Mrs. R L Todd, Jr., spent Sun-
day with Mrs. Ouy Hipsher.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Ridings of
Ballinger spent several days last
week with their daughter. Mrs Wel-

Davis Honored
By Highway Dept.
Malcolm M Davis, skilled labor-
er, was one of seven veteran em-
ployees of the Texas Highway De-
partment recently honored at
Brownwood, In recognition of 21.17
years of meritorious service with
the State Highway Department.
Davis entered the service of the
Department In April 1925, and has
served on the maintenance of state
highways In Coleman county to the
present date ^
The award consisted of the pre-
sentation of a gold lapel pin and an
engraved scroll .signed by all State
Highway Commissioners and the
State Highway Engineer
