Cotton Reduction Program Meets
The Approval of Coleman Farmers
Information kdcased this we- k
from the office of county agent C.
V. Rob+nson indicate* practically
one hundred percent cooperation
bn the part- of the cotton farmers
of the county in the Government’s
acreage reduction program.
Figure* revealed show that ap-
proximately 43,000 acre* have
been rented to the Government to
be taken Out of cotton production,
In thl* cunty. and thl* total repre-
sent* the ce-operatlon of practical-
ly .every cotton farmer In the coun-
ty. It 1* said that some farmers
who have not signed the reduction
contracts, are heartily in .favor of
the program but through failure
of a’harmonious und“rstandlng^be-
tween landlord and tenant, active
co-operation has been withheld. -
It is thought by some that the
Bankhead hill now pending before
the upper house, which would levy
a tax of approximately $20.00 per
bale on the farmer who goes too
strong on cotton production, has
had a wholesome efect In Inducing
farmers to sign the reduction con-
tract*, on the other hand many
farmers signing the contract* In
the last few days apparently are
those who have finally reached an
agreement with tenant or landlord,
a* the case might be,-and have
taken advantage of the ’extension
of time allowed for the sign up
campaign.
