Earth Cracks
Despite a deep snow coy-
er and low temperatures dur-
ing a Yellowstone National
Park winter, elk can feed at
steaming pools and springs
forced by pressure through
cracks in the earth, accord-
ing to National Geographic
World magazine. Green
plants grow around the pools
and springs.
ALOE VERA and its related products have enjoyed a rapid growth, especially in
the Texas Rio Grande Valley. This worker at Hilltop Gardens, near McAllen, is
picking up the flowers that have just been cut from this field of aloe vera plants.
The farm, with nearly 60 acres devoted to aloe vera, also sells and processes the
plant. Visitors may tour the farm and facilities during regular working hours
Monday-Friday. (TfDA Photo by Michael Murphy)
