Mr. Rayburn, You Forgot
To Mention A Few Facts!
YOU made much In your talk at Brownwood Monday night assert-
ing our memories are short that we Texans have forgotten the
12 years under Republican administration!
4---
You forgot to mention. Mr. Rayburn, that you were a member of
the congress during the last two years Hoover was president, and
that your party was In control
You forgot to mention. Mr. Rayburn, that during the two years
you and other members of your party were lrt control of congress
the average price paid for Texas cotton dropped from slightly
more than 10 cents per pound to slightly more than six cents.
You forgot to mention. Mr. Rayburn, that In 1919 just before
the war arare began sending prices up. and six' years after a
Democrat became president, the average pi lee paid for rotton
In Texas was still only slightly mbre than eight cents per •
pound—or (wo rents per pound less than It was during (he
last year a full Republican administration was in eontrnl of
the government. This was after the gold standard was rlianged
and the dollar wus inflated.
You forgot to mention, Mr Rayburn, that General Elsenhower is
fn favor of returning Texas' tlrielands back to Texas, while your
candidate lx opposed to state ownership of the tidelands.
You forgot to mention. Mr. Rayburn, that your candidate Is in
favor of the so-rallrd fair employment prartlrrs measure
which roulii send bureaucrat* to Trxas with authority to—tell
Texans employing more than a specified number of persons
that they must employ a specified percentage from certain
race*.
You forgot to mention. -Mr. Rayburn, that General Elsenhower lx
opposed to any compulsory so-called fair employment practices
bill.
You forgot to mention, Mr. Rayburn, that thr Truman ad-
. ministration has spent In seven years 11 billion dollars more
than all the proceeding administration* from Washington
through Roosevelt, and that our taxes now are outrageously
high.
You forgot to mention many things Mr. Rayburn. You called
attention to the many honors you have been given In the congress,
but you forgot to mention that Texans sent you to Congress; have
kept you In congress, and it Is to Texans you owe your success—
not to Truman and his Ilk
You forgot to mention, Mr. Rayburn, that It lx extremely Important
for all Texans who put principle and the welfare of Texas above
all W
