BARBARA FREEMAN
Mrs. Freeman
Has Statement
For Voters
Barbara Freeman, candidate
for County Treasurer, has
authorized this newspaper to
publish her statement to voters
as follows:
Ozone Damage
The stratosphere is. the layer of
air from 10 to 30 miles above the
earth where the ozone is located
The ozone, earth's protective
layer, is continuously formed by
the action of sunlight on oxygen
molecules. Until lately, the ozone
has been destroyed—at the same
rate it was being formed—by
other sun-triggered reactions in-
volving natural nitrogen com-
pounds that are formed in the
stratosphere Now. though,
human activities are on the
threshold of upsetting that
balance by adding more ozone-
destroying chemicals in nearly
the amount of the natural rate.
Our hopes should always
come equipped with a para-
chute-something to let us down
easy.
TO THE VOTERS
OF COLEMAN COUNTY
I am a candidate for the
unexpired term of the office of
County Treasurer of Coleman
County. 1 was born, raised and
have maintained by residence
in Coleman County since 1937.
My husband is engaged in the
trucking business which is
headquartered in Coleman. Our
son attends school in the
Coleman Independent School
District."
In 1955, I graduated from ‘
Novice High School and from
American Business Institute in
Fort Worth in 1956. Since that
time I have been employed in
all phases of office management
ranging from simple bookkeep-
ing to complete accounting
responsibilities. Throughout
my career I have always tried
to uphold the basic principles of
bookkeeping total accur-
acy and timely reporting.
The duties of the County
Treasurer as defined by the
laws of the State of Texas are
very complex. The responsibili-
ties of this important office do
not end with the mere receiving
and disbursing of approximate
ly $650,000 per year, but they
extend to the exact accounting
of those monies to you the
taxpayers.
I assure you that should you'
place your confidence in me
with your vote on May 1, that I
will perform all of the duties of
the office of County Treasurer
to the utmost of my ability.
Let me take This opportunity
to thank each of you that I have
visited during the past few
weeks for the courtesies shown
me, and I again ask for your
vote and support. To those that
I have been unable to personal
ly contact, please consider
casting your vote for me.
