Birthday Bluer,
Quite a social affair took place
last Wednesday, the 8th, at the
home of Judge and Mrs. W. E.
Fitgzeralcf, when the latter gave
her father, Mr. Joseph Roth, a
birthday dinner in honor of his
76th birthady. The invitations on-
ly extended to the few old friends
of the host who are left, whose
numbers can be counted on the
digits of one’s hands. There were
present, Henry A. Roth, son of
host, and his family, Nick Roth, a
brother and bachelor, Uncle Brice
Woody, nearly an octogenerion,
Mrs. Dr. Workman and daughter.
Miss Beatrice, whose mother is a
daughter of the host, all of Willow
Point, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Stew-
art, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stewart,
Mr. Stewart Castleberry, and Dock
Shown, now of Jacksboro, but for-
merly from Wise county. Owing to
sickness in his family the latter had
to forego the birthday dinner, but
brought his felicitations after-
wards to the host which were duly
appreciated.
They all partook of a sumptuous
dinner which received full justice
at the hands of all present, and one
guest expressed his conviction,
that he awlays found, if one wants
a good dinner, he should go inhere
the housewife does her own wash-
ing and cooking.
After the usual dinner conversa-
tion, the host and Mrs. Fitzgerald
entertained the guest with some
sweet music on the piano and flute,
after which they all departed to
their homes, and places of business.
Mr. Roth has been a citizen of
Wise county since 1873.
One who was there.
Speedy'Relief From Kidney Troubl
I had an acute attack of Bright’s
disesea with inflamation of the
kidneys and bladder and dizziness,
say Mrs Cora Thorp,, Jakson Mich.
“A bottle of Foley’s Kidney Reme-
dy overcome the attack, reuced the
inflamtion, took away the pain
and made the bladder action nor
mal. 1 wish everyone could know
of this wonderful remedy.”
To The State Wide ProU-
Bitionists of Jack County
The legislature Having passed a
joint resolution submitting to the
voters of Texas a constitutional
Amendment prohibiting the manu-
facture and sale of intoxicating
liquors, the election to be held on
July 22nd. 1911, which joint reso-
lution has been approved by Gover-
nor Colquit; the state-wide Prohi-
bition Executive Committee, thru
Thos. H. Ball its chairman, having
issued its call for friends of State-
wide Prohibition to meet in each
county on the 25th day of February
1911, and organize for more effi-
cient and united work in carrying
the said prohibition amendment.
We, the undersigned voters of
Jack county hereby request all
citizens, irrespective of party af-
filiations, who believe ti^at whiskey
is a great curse to our civilization
and that the open saloon is a dead-
ly enemy to our homes and fire-
sides and who are unwilling to turn
our great state with all its inter-
ests over to the brewers and liquor
dealers, but who are on the
other han^ willing to devote some
time and energy in rescuing our
fair land from the dominations of
the open saloon, with all its de-
moralizing influences, to assemble
in mass meeting at the Court
House in Jacksboro, on February
25th, 1911, at one o’clock p. m. for
the purpose of putting into opera-
tion such movement and organiza-
tion as the meeting may decide to
be of best interest of State-wide
Prohibition.
Please attend the meeting and
let us at once get our working
force in operation.

Pneumonia Follows a Cold
But never follows the use of
Foley’s Honey and Tar, which

cold. M. Stockwel, Hannibal, Mo.,

LONG HOLLOW.
That long looked for rain has ar-
rived at last, we had a small sprin-
kle the 8 and on Friday the 10th,
it began to rain about one o’clock
and rained steady until about nine
which put a fine season in the
ground, it did not make much
stock water, but enough fell to do
for some time yUntil it rains again
if it does not wait too long.
The fruit trees are in full bloom
in this part which looks very much
like the fruit might be killed this
year, b.ut we hope not.
The farmers are somewhat be-
hind with their work but they will
be about it in a hurry and may
catch up alright.
There is quite a lot of colds and
gripe in this part butr no bad cases
of sickness.
Our school is progressing nicely
and all seem to be interested and
pleased with the school and teach-
er, Miss Della Smith who tho young
is a good teacher.
We had another wedding in our
part last Sunday week, the fifth,
that of Mr. Harry Duncan and Miss
Leola McAnear both nice young
poeple who have lived here for
quite a while, we wish them a long
and happy life
The stock in this part are doing
reasonably well for the shortness
of the grass and the dry weather.
Guess we had better quit and get
out to stirring the dirt.
With best wishes to the Nevys
and its readers we are still

Mrs. E. W. Nicholson entertain-

those who did attend report a most
