To The Voters
of the
Coleman Independent School District
I am Sherrill Ragsdale, a
candidate for Place 2 on the
C.I.S.D. Board. I have been a
Coleman resident for the past
11 years. I own both personal
and business property in Cole-
man County and am a tax-
payer. I have a son, Brett, who
attends Junior High School and
my wife, Wanda, is a home-
maker and mother.
I am an officer, Vice-Presi-
dent of Operations and a mem-
ber of the Board of Directors
with Stempel Manufacturing
Company, Inc. In that capacity,
I routinely use the skills of
decision-making, budget set-
ting, goal setting and the ever
present problem of complying
and coping with State and
Federal regulations. I manage
people, money and resources
daily. I believe these are the
same talents called for in a good
school board trustee.
I have been active in com-
munity affairs since moving
here in 1970.1 am a member of
the Chg
currently
trial Committee. J have also
served as a number of the
Board of Directors for the
Chamber. I have worked with
the County Fair and Fourth of
July Celebration for several
years.
My family and I are members
of the First Baptist Church. My
wife, Wanda teaches in Sunday
School and I am currently
serving as chairman of the
Budget Committee and have
worked with the Royal Ambas-
sadors.
I am * member of the
Coleman County Civil Defense
Team and the Sky-warn or
Weather Watch Unit. I am a
Band Booster fan and work
with them every year. We
raised over $2600.00 this year
Ft
hjimber of Commerce and
ntfy serve on the Ihdus-
at the Band Auction. I am also a
sustaining member of the Boy
Scouts of America and I am a
Mason.
I am a firm believer in com-
munity involvement and I have
contributed in the areas in
which I am qualified. I believe I
have something to offer as a
trustee for the school board and
I ask for your support.
If you support me in this bid
to represent you as a trustee,
you have my solemn vow that
each issue will be studied
carefully and my vote will be
cast for the best interest of the
school district. I will be honest,
fair and equal in all mat-
ters, and owe allegiance to no
special interest group. These
are my qualifications and if you
feel, as I do, that they are those
which should be found in a
School Board Trustee then I
ask for your vote and support in
the coming runoff election.
I appreciate the voters who
supported me in the April 4th
election and I ask for your
continued support.
Thank you,
Sherrill Ragsdale

Open House Held At County Jail
Sunday afternoon, March
29th, between the hours of 2:00
and 4:00 p.m., an open house
was held at the Coleman
County Jail for everyone to
view the newly Certified Faci-
lity after extensive remodel-
ing and repairs over approxi-
mately a four year period,
which was necessary to comply
Mth the new State Jail Stand-
ards and Commissions of Texas.
Mr. Maurice Woods just recent-
ly inspected the jail and passed
on all phases.
Sheriff and Mrs. H. F. Fen-
ton, the deputies and their
families hosted the event, ser-
ved light refreshments to visi-
tors and toured them through
the facility. Harold Beard was
present and was responsible for
a great deal of the work and
improvements. Approximately
125 people came during the
afternoon. K-fAB T.V. was on
hand for pictures and inter-
viewed the Sheriff. Many
neighboring counties are forced
into building new jails as their
present jails are being con-
demned.

The Aggie Muster dates back
to the mid-1880’s and has been
held annually ever since. “More
than 350 Musters will be held

Every Muster ceremony is
the same, with Texas Aggies

the years, and endless efforts

Plans for a new jail for
Coleman County was estimated

New technique

to recover oil
COLLECE STATION -
Enhanced oil recovery tech-
niques using pressurized nitro-
gen are being adopted in some
of the nation’s oil fields six years
after they were first developed
at Texas A&M University.
The nitrogen replaces more
costly natural gas in the
method, producing substantial-
ly the same amount of oil from
oil fields ai natural gas, said Dr.
Paul Crawford, who par-
ticipated in the pioneering re-
