The Comaneheria Chapter
National Society of the Daugh-
ters of the American Revolution
hosted their annual Guest Day
Sunday at the River Valley Pio-
neer Museum. During the pro-
gram DAR Good Citizen and
American History Awards were
presented to area high school
students.
Mary Alice Parnell, Chapter
Chairman, presented the DAR
Good Citizen Awards to Celeste
Huff, Allison High School; Jeana
Booker, Higgins High School;
Daniel Rankin, Miami High
School; Eric Hall, Canadian High
School; and Carissa Dukes, Fort
Elliot High School.
Good Citizen Awards are
given to outstanding senior stu-
dents and are selected by then-
school administration. The first
award was presented by the chap-
ter in 1974; present at Sunday’s
gathering was the first recipient,
Julie Arrington Culver.
Wyvonne McDaniel, Vice Re-
gent, presented the American
History Awards. Students are
tested on their historical knowl-
edge by CHS teacher, John
Heimstra. First Place was
awarded to Jim Coffee, Capp
Culver received second place and
Kendra Hardin was third.
Present at the DAR Guest
Day were members Al’Louise
Ramp, State Vice Regent
TSDAR; Janet Parnell, Regent,
Wyvonne McDaniel, Vice Regent;
Mary Ann Parks, Treasurer; Jeri
Pundt, Recording Secretary;

Arrington, Librarian; Mary Alice
Parnell, Chapter Chairman; and
Loreta Morgan, Marie Killebrew,
and Pat Wilson.
