Miller ton, April 4.--Quite a few
parents, school children and others
in the community enjoyed a spell-
ing match at the school house last
Thursday night. Mrs. Earl Small
outwitted us all by being the last
one on the floor.
School is progressing nicely, there

There will be a home talent play
given at the school house Thursday
night, April 14. The play is entitled
"A Prairie Rose.” A very small ad-
mission fee will be charged, the pro-
ceeds going to the school to buy

cessities. Come and bring someone
with you.
Our boy scouts are going to have
a meeting at the school house Fri-

Sipe Springs, April 4.—We are
having plenty of high wind but not
quite so much dust. Everybody is
busy, planting and getting ready to
plant. Some cane and sudan and
htgira is planted and much more will
be soon. There will be a consider-
able acreage in peanuts out here
this year.
Miss Mae Vinton has missed sev-
eral days from school on account of
?. severe sore throat.
Mrs. Bertie Touchstone spent last
Monday with her sister, Miss Rosa
Cook, in Rockdale.
Mrs. A. B. Fulsom and family of

the week end with home folks.
Jodie Greenwood of Waco visited

Arthur Coldiron of Sand Grove

Mrs. Lewis Davenport went to
Carlsbad Thursday for treatment.
We are sorry it was necessary for
her to go, and sincerely hope she can
return to her husband and baby,

H. M. Vinton has been on the sick
list for several days. He and his
wife visited G. U. Hairston’s home
Sunday afternoon.
Coy Pruitt entertained the young
people with a party Saturday night.
Theie are a few plums and peach-
os in spite of the freeze and frosts
down -Sunday and played a "practice
game” with our boys. The game
was interesting. The score was 9-10
in favor of Thrall. .. .
Mr and Mrs. Emil Hirt are the
proud parents of a big baby boy.
Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lamb, of Dun-
an, visited in the Joe Dockall home

having real March days the past
week and every farmer took advan-
tage of the weather. Most all the
corn has been planted and some re-
port it already up. Some have start-
ed planting their com this morn-
ing (Monday). The winds have dried
out the ground and a rain 1s need-
ed very badly for the corn and gar-
