Movies galore to help

Ahh, summer.
The time of year when every college
student makes a list of 10 ways they
will better themselves over a three-
month period. Realistically, about a
week and a half into the summer, most
college students find themselves sleep-
ing well into the afternoon and watch-
ing reruns of Jersey Shore all night.
If not that, perhaps they are doing
something noble, such as a family vaca-
tion, a mission trip, or working at a
great camp with awesome kids. Or
maybe some of them even have a sum-
mer job at which they can make some
extra cash for things like going to the
movies.
However you're spending your time,
there are going to be tons of new mov-
ies hitting theaters this summer, and
what better way to escape the heat than
a nice air conditioned theater?

for 50th anniversary of hit songBY HPU MEDIA RELATIONS
Howard Payne will welcome back
distinguished former students Ray
Hildebrand and Jill Jackson Landon,
known professionally as Paul and Paula,
for a celebration of the 50th anniversary
of their number-one hit "Hey Paula."
The public is invited to a free, infor-
mal reception with Hildebrand and
Landon at 6:30 p.m. Friday [April
27] in the Bullion Suites of the Mabee
University Center. The duo will share
stories and songs from their chart-topping career.
"We are proud to welcome these
distinguished former students back to
HPU's campus," said Dr. Bill Ellis,
university president. "Ray and Jill are
gracious to return to the university,
and we hope the public will join us in
celebrating their successes, as we step
back into musical history with them."
In 1962, Hildebrand and Landon were
students at Howard Payne. According
to Hildebrand, the duo drove to Fort
Worth and dropped in unannounced at
a small recording studio in the base-ment of a radio station. When
the scheduled artist failed to
appear, the two students were
given the opportunity to record
their song. A few months later,
"Hey Paula" was at the top
of the charts in the U.S. and
around the world.
