Strange Air Visitor
Puzzles Australians
-SYDNEY, Australia M—Reports
(Rhat a ‘‘cigar-shaped object larger
than any plane" flashed across the
southeast Australian sky just after
dawn Saturday puzzled Air Force
and civilian scientists Monday.
At least 13 persons from four
areas of New South Wales assert-
ed they saw the mysterious object
Among them were two airline pi-
lots and a Royal Austrilian Air
Force officer who served in World
War II.
Ail of the sighting were within
seven minutes of one other and
ranged from Sydney to the south
coast, 1(H» miles away, and Parkes,
200 miles west of Sydney.
All witnesses agreed that the ob-
ject was shaped like a cigar and
travelled at speeds of hundreds of
miles an hour and at altitudes rang-
ing from 4,000 to 25,000 feet.

Thieves took several thousand dol-
lars worth of Army weapons, in-
cluding machineguns. bazookas
and 22 automatic pistols, from
the Oklahoma A&M College ar-
mory over the weekend, officials
disclosed Monday.
Col. Pete T. Hefner, comman-
dant, of the Aggie Reserve Offi-
cers Training Corps, said the loss
included a .50 caliber heavy ma-
chine-gun, two 3.6 bazookas, four
.45 caliber sub-machineguns, the i
22 45 caliber automatics, several j
field binoculars and possibly other 1
single items.
