New Hermleigh
Well Completed
In southeast Scurry County three
and a half miles southwest of the
two-well Hermleigh Ellenburger
field and a mile and a half north-
east of Hermleigh, No. 1 James
Davidson Ellenburger well has
been completed.
The new field opener was finalcd
for a daily flowing potential of
314.98 barrels of 41-gravity oil and
no water through a quarter-inch
tubing choke and perforations in
casing at 7,590-7.f!08 feet. Gas-oil
ratio was 500-1 and tubing pressure
was 400 pounds. The completion
was natural.
The new field is eight to 10 miles
northwest of Claytonville.

Ben Greathouse, son cf Mrs. El-
sie Greathouse of 500 East Arkan-
sas, is now training at the Marine
Corps Hecruit Depot. San Diego,
Calif., the Marine Corps announc-
ed this week. Greathouse, former
Newman High School student here,
was inducted in the Marine Corps
at Dallas recently.
A city building permit has been
issued to Manuel G. Martinez, for
an $800 addition at 905 W. Alamo.
Walter R. Humphrey, editor o(
the Fort Worth Press, and wife
were visitors in Sweetwater Mon-
day to deliver a plaque to Mrs.
Doyle O. Moore, winner of the re-
gional home-making contest in the
A&M College-Fort Worth Press soil
conservation program.
Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Sulwiler of
Albuquerque, N. M . visited during
the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. S.
7. Williams and Mrs. Carl Williams
and her mother. Mrs. Carl Wil-
liams will be visiting relatives in
Abilene for a few days.
Mrs. Bryson Paddock and chil-
dren of Brownsville are visiting
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. .1. F.
Wills, and his parents, the P. Pad-
docks. Mr. Paddock brought them

special Air Force school at Denver,

Guests For April
Police cars were sent In a total
of 321 calls to answer during April,
the monthly report of Police Chief
J. E. McCoy shows.
Total fines assessed during the
month in police court amounted to
$1,314 with $152 of them laid out
in jail. There were 83 prisoners
handled in the city jail, 9 trans-
ferred to county authorities. Five
juveniles were handled by police
but no charges were tiled.
Moving traffic violations for the \
month totaled five with 11 parking
violations.

1 The Reporter was authorized to-
day to announce the entry of Leon-
ard Teston in the race for Justice
of the Peace, Precinct 1, Place 1,
for the City of Sweetwater.
Mr Teston has lived in Sweet-
water for the past twenty-two years
and was educatetd in the Sweetwa-
ter schools. He served three years
ir. Company E. 142nd Infantry, for
! three years prior to World War II
i and stayed with that unit until
tie was wounded at Salerno Since
his return to Sweetwater, Mr. Tes-
1 ton has been active in the Dls-
1 aided American Veterans, Veterans
' of Foreign Wars and American Leg-
ion. He is presently the Post Com-
: mander of the Sweetwater VFW
I in announcing his entry into the
| race, Mr. Teston said:
