ROCKWALL COUNTY
The smallest county in Texas, it has the great appeal of small town feel
and values coupled with easy access to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
But size is not the only thing small in Rockwall. We have one of the small-
est crime rates, smallest tax rates and smallest insurance rates in the State.
Rockwall also has it's share of highest categories, too. Rockwall has one
of the highest ranked school districts, highest ranked per capita incomes,
highest median household incomes and highest average median house-
hold values in the state.
ROCKWALL INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
"Excellence in Education" is the school district's mission statement. Being widely recognized as one of the best public
school systems in the state points out the fact that they are not only saying it, but doing it.
R1SD exceeds state accreditation standards in all areas.
RISD students outperform their peers in the state and nation on standardized tests and
college entrance exams.
National Merit Scholarship Awards and numerous college scholarships are given to
students each year.
RISD students win annual awards in U1L academic contests, academic decathlon and
Odyssey of the Mind competitions.

as "High Performing" schools in the Texas Successful Schools Award Program based on
high performance of the TAAS test score by the students.
The Rockwall School District has a new state-of-the-art high school that was opened in 1993 and will have a new
elementary school scheduled to be completed for the 1995-96 school year that will serve the Heath area which in-
cludes Buffalo Creek. The district has four current elementary schools that reach the fifth grade, an intermediate
