First Christian Has
Celebration For
Eldest Members
An all church dinner was
held Sunday, September 18,
at the First Christian Church,
Wylie, honoring all members
who are 75 years and over.
Gifts were presented to all
and entertainment by "The
Clowns" was focused on the
group. The clowns are
members of the church and
their program was enjoyed by
all. Pastor Mike Brandish
was master of ceremonies.
Betty Housewright gave all
some information on "Life
Begins at 90”.
Robert Schraplau was the
chief cook, preparing barbe-
que brisket.
Those being honored were,
Elsie Houston, Alphia
Caywood, Dess Housewright,
Cora Moss, Evelyn Thurman,
Otto Haker.
Wylie Garden
Club Meets
The Wylie Garden Club met
for their reassembly tea
September 14, in the
Bluebonnet room of the Rita
and Truett Smith library.
President, Mrs. Pauline Akin
presided over the meeting.
Delicious refreshments were
served by Mrs. Rita Smith
and Mrs. Gene Boyd.
It was agreed to change the
meeting time to 1:00 instead
of 2:00. One exception is the
Oct. 12 meeting which will be
at 12:00 and after the
meeting will work in the
shrub bed in front of the
library. To keep the grounds
properly groomed is our pro-
ject for the year.
Garden Club meets every se-
cond Wednesday at 1:00
through May. We would
welcome new members.
