'Zimmerman, 11522 Broadmoor, who were honored at an
Open House by their children, Steven and Barbara, in honor
of their 25th wedding anniversary. Out-of-town guests
The Abe Zimmermans cutting their Silver Anniversary Cake
included Mrs. Charles Perlmutter and family of Houston and
Mrs. Zimmerman's parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Grossman of
Shreveport.
A series of parties is being
held for Ellen Marsha Schimmel,
who’ll become the bride of Dr.
Richard Alan Berns on April 8th
at Temple Emanu-El. Festivities
started on January 29 when Mr.
and Mrs. Yale Candy entertained
at a dinner party at their home,
6419 Del Norte. The following
evening Mr. and Mrs. Hy Fetter-
man and Mrs. Herman Zaikaner
were co-hosts at a Cocktail party
at the home of the former, 6335
W. Northwest Highway. Dr. and
Mrs. Roy Bernstein and Mr. and
Mrs. Bert Barcoff entertained at
a Cocktail Party at the Bernstein
home, 4558 Shady Hill Drive,
on February 12. A cocktail
buffet on March 4 was given by
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fielding,
and the next day Mmes. Edward
Schwartz, Richard Leland,
Manny Pierce, Sidney Julius, and
Sam Krause were co-hosts at a
brunch and linen shower at the
Fairmont Hotel. On March 12,
Mrs. Barry Hoffer entertained at
a luncheon and paper shower at
her home, 13516 Noel, and on
the 21st, Mrs. Morris Beck hon-
ored the future bride at a spice
and recipe shower at her home,
11317 Chicot. Other parties are
scheduled before the wedding
date. Ellen is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Schimmel,
6119 Yorkshire, and her fiance
is the son of Mrs. A1 Berns,
6635 Del Norte, and the late
Mr. Berns.
Carol pid Pete Arnstein and
daughter Andrea, 423 Cambridge
Drive, are delighted to have as
their guests her folks, Mr. and
Mrs. Max Prushansky of Rego
Park, New York. Lana and Stan
Latman and daughter Audrey are
holidaying with his folks, Mr.
and Mrs. Abe Latman, in Borger.
Susan and Sharon Laufer, daugh-
ters of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Laufer,
who are attending school in
Israel, also enjoy the added
opportunities to travel in other
countries. Susan and her room-
mates flew to Athens and then
travelled on to Skotje, Belgrade,
Yugoslavia, and the Isle of Crete.
Sharon spent her vacation side-
tripping to the Sinai and Galilee.
Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Finkelston
of Kansas City, who’ll arrive

Rabbi Levi Olan will preach
on “We Can Overcome” this Fri-
day evening at 8:15 P.M. Sab-
bath Services at Temple Emanu-
El. In honor of Rabbi Olan and
in observance of Passover, the
Temple Choir will present a
musical service consisting en-
tirely of the works of Hugo Ch.
Adler. The evening’s Anthem will
be Adler’s “Ho Lachmo Anyo”—
‘The Bread of Affliction.”
Greeting members will be Mr.
and Mrs. Sam Stone and Mr.
and Mrs. Roy Stein. Ushers will
be Theodore Lipman, Preston
M. Gendler and Bert Klimist
whose wives will join them as
hosts at the Sabbath reception
following.
At eleven o’clock Saturday
morning Sabbath Services, Rabbi
Gerald Klein will preach on
“Learning From The Four
Sons”. The Bar Mitzvah of
Brian William Prager, son of
Dr. and Mrs. Morton Prager, will
be observed at this Service.
AT SHEARITH ISRAEL
Early Sabbath Services at
Shearith Israel Synagogue will
be held at 6:30 P.M. with Rabbi
Nissim Wernick officiating
At Saturday morning Sabbath
Services, Joel Newman, son of
this weekend, will share their
visit with their children, Beverly
and Mike Finkelston and Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Zlotky and young-
sters, Amy, Cherie, and Jeff.
Mrs. Bertha Dubin is visiting
with her son and family, the
Marvin Dubins in Philadelphia.
Mr. and Mrs. Abe Pressman are
enjoying their holiday visit with
their daughter and family,-
Sharon and Lee Green and
youngsters, Genee and Jeffrey
of 7516 Riverbrook. Highlight
of their visit will be Jeffrey’s
seventh birthday early next
week. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene
Stolow, 7523 Azalea Lane have
as their guest, her sister Miss
Sarah Kinas of New York.

Irving A. Baker, Assistant to
the President of Southern
Methodist University, will deliver
the sixth presentation in Tem-
ple Shalom’s discussion series
on “Community Issues,” Fri-
day evening, April 7, at
8 P.M., at the Northaven Metho-
dist Church, 11211 Preston
Road. Mr. Baker will discuss,
“Problems In Race Relations:
It’s Time For Solutions.” Mr.
Henry Cohn will serve as
Moderator^
Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Newman,
a student at the Jewish Theolo-
gical Seminary, will be the guest
speaker. Cantor Sol Sanders will
chant the Liturgy.
The community is cordially
invited to attend and to partici-
pate in the question and answer
period to follow.
Mr. Baker, a graduate of West
Virginia State College, received
his M.P.A. from New York Uni-
versity. He served as Executive
Vice-President of Bishop College
for two years and is currently
serving as Director of Afro-
American Studies at S.M.U., in
addition to his position as Assist-
ant to the President.
Mr. Baker will speak follow-
ing the Friday Evening Service
conducted by Rabbi Saul P.
Besser.
In May, the series will con-
clude with an address by Rabbi
Robert M. Seltzer, Professor of
Jewish History at Hunter College,
who will be Scholar in Residence
for the weekend at Temple
.Shalom.
