Beth-EI’s kids serve
up a teenage Thanksgiving
Members of Beth-El Congrega-
tion’s Junior Youth group were busy
on Thanksgiving Day, preparing
lunch for 10 teenagers at Emer-
gency Youth Shelter, a program of
All Church Home for Children.
This shelter is the only one of its
kind in Tarrant County — and nine
other counties to the north, south,
and west. It cares for runaways,
“throwaways,” and kids who’ve been
removed from their homes due to
abuse or neglect.
Israelis Ruth Erez and Shirley
Ben-David had never cooked a
Thanksgiving turkey before, but
they wanted to learn about this
American tradition — and weren’t
afraid of the 14-lb. bird. Thanks to
those who provided food, served
teens and staff, and helped dean up
afterward: Stewart, Nancy, Alex and
Noah Keller; Bill, Sha’ron and
Joseph Clark; Greg and Ted Dayton,
and Ricky James. Laurie Wallace
couldn’t be there in person, but the
“Red-Hot Sweet Potato Casserole"
she sent was a crowd-pleaser.
All at the shelter were truly
grateful for this Thanksgiving
mitzvah.
A note from Etta Korenman
“I am in town for a few weeks,
having iust spent Thanksgiving
with all the kids. Joey is still
working in Boston. Adam is at
Boston University, and Sarah is at
DePaul in Chicago.
“I'm working on several thing>
in Israel and want to see if anyone
is interested in helping with two
proiects. One of them is <3hel An,
named after Ari Weiss, killed
while saving a fellow soldier in
Nablus. Everv two months, 1000
“care packages are packed for sol-
diers, containing food and drink
flashlight, and a letter from

would be nice if letters could

if anyone is interested in writing

naire Rene Wisch took a tumble a
week or so ago. After surgery, and
with a few pins in place to help
repair her broken femur, she was
discharged from the hospital this
week, and is now recuperating in
Dallas’ Plaza at Edgemere. She won’t
be allowed to put any weight on that
had leg for a minimum of six to
eight weeks, so she’s expected to be
in rehab.
And she’d love to hear from
everyone! Letters, notes, cards, and
happy holiday wishes would be
much appreciated. Send them to:
