Council For Judaism Offers Help In Mid-East ProblemsWeintraub Named
NEW ORLEANS (WNS) —
The American Council for
udaism, rabid anti-Zionist
body, pledged the use of its
best efforts to assist in any
way which may be open to us
in the solution” of the vital and
difficult Middle Eastern prob-
lems.
The pledge was embodied in
a statement approved here at
a two-day session of the or-
ganization ’s national advisory
board. Declaring that the
American Council for Judaism
is an organization “committed
to the universal truths $f Pro-
phetic Judaism” and “entirely
free of qualifications by the
national interests of any fore-
ign state,” the statement said

Rabbi D. Jacobson To Speak
At Southwestern University
Dr. David Jacobson of Tem-
ple Beth-El of San Antonio,
Texas will represent the Jew-
ish Chautauqua Society as lec-
turer at Southwestern Univer-
sity, Georgetown, Texas on
Tuesday, December 4. The
rabbi will speak at assembly
at 11: 00 a.m. on the subject
“Israel and World Affairs.”

TRENTON (WNS)—Gover-
nor Robert B. Meyner has ap-
pointed Joseph Weintraub to
the State Supreme Court to
fill the vacancy created by the
elevation by President Eisen-
hower of one of its members,
Judge William Brennan, to the
Supreme Court of the United
States.
Judge Weintraub was form-
erly a justice of the Superior
Court. Another Jewish jurist,
Bernard Vogel, of Woodbridge,
is expected to replace Judge
Weintraub on the Superior
Court.
Chief Justice Warren
Gets Brandeis Medal
WALTHAM (WNS) — Earl
Warren, Chief Justice of the
United States Supreme Court,
has been presented with the
first of twenty gold medals
struck for Brandeis University
by the United States Mint, it
was disclosed here by univer-
sity officials.
The medal commemorating
the centennial of the birth of
the late Supreme Court Jus-
dice Louis D. Brandeis, is also
to be struck in bronze in a
run of 3,000 for distribution to
faculty, alumni and friends of
the university as mementos of
the centennial celebrations.
