After all you’ve heard of
Schindler’s List, you will
ftnally have the opportunity
to see it when the Fort Worth
Hebrew Day School presents
the Fort Worth premier on
Thursday, January 6,7 pjn.,
at A.M.C. Hulen.
Schindler's List has already
garnered several awards and
director Steven Spielberg
certainly deserves an Acad-
emy Award. It’s a power-
house, the likes of which
you’ve never seen. We were
fortunate to see an early pre-
view in Dallas and it’s a
movie that will stay with us
forever. Tickets for the ben-
efit performance are Patrons,
reserved seating $25. and
general admission, $15. For
tickets and information, call
Phyllis Fenton, 737-2252.
The film is rated R and no
one under 17 will be admit-
ted without parent or guard-
ian.

Dorothy and Harold Win-
ston are avid theater-goers
and try to make it a point
each year to take in theBroad-
way shows. Y ou couldn’t ask
for a better reviewer than
Harold and he is always most
kind to share his views with
us. This year the Winston’s
glorious round of theatre-
going opened with Neil
Simon’s new comedy,
“Laughter on the 23rd
Floor,... fun and funny but
not one of Simon’s Best
“The Sisters Rosens weig,
is excellent. It has been on
Broadway for a while and
currently features Hal Lin-
den, Michael Learned and
Linda Lavin. (The Winstons
enjoyed visiting with
ourtowners Ed and Lynny
Sankary who were also in
the audience the night they
try iti vi
l.)
“Kiss of the Spider
Woman is a superb
musical.. .a must see... Be cer-
tain, however, that Chita
Rivera is in the cast. She
makes the show.
“Kentucky Cycle was the
best show we saw,” said
Harold. “It is six hours long
and is presented in two three-
hour segments, either on the
same day or successive days.
We chose the latter. The story
concerns 357 acres of land in
eastern Kentucky and the
lives of three families tied to
that land from 1795 to 1970.
Stacy Keach stars.
“Beau Jest is another long-
run show...very funny, very
light It has a decided Jewish
bent to it and is worth seeing.
“The last show was the
revival of the 1963 musical.
She Loves Me. Dorothy en-
joyed it I walked out at inter-
mission time.
“It was a great trip. I have
never seen the Tunes Square
area so clean and largely de-
void of street people,” con-
cluded Harold.
Our thanks to Harold, we
plan to file his good words in
our “wischful dreams’’ file
for a possible trip to New
York.

humming when Courtney
(now 14) was in New York
last summer and saw “Crazy

so much she wrote to the
leads and told them how
much she enjoyed it. Since
then, Courtney has had a pen

and she was told that when
her family visits New York
again, they are all invited to
a tour of the theater and back •
stage and an opportunity to
meet with the cast. You can’t
skip an invitation like that!

Chabad’s Fort Worth Hanuka Party Draws Over
220—Highly Successful First Annual Event Fort
Worth Youngsters Play Dreidle at the Hanuka Party
By Larry Blostein
The first night of Hanuka
on Wednesday, December
8th opened the holiday with
an exceptional level of com-
munity participation and en-
thusiasm. Held at the gym-
nasium at the Dan Danciger
Jewish Community Center,
a crowd conservatively esti-
mated at 220, ate, sang,
danced, schmoozed, played
games and filled the hall with
the sounds of people having
a fine time. Maximum ad-
mission charge beyond three
persons was $ 15 so that even
the largest families did not
hesitate to attend
The party was planned by
Rabbi Yonoson Palik
Schtroks of the recently es-
tablished Chabad house of
Fort Worth, and his wife
Simie. A dramatic event of
the evening was the lighung
of a beautiful Menorah by

Cantor Baumgarten of New
York City. His many rendi-
tions of traditional Hanuka
sons, and many other favor-
ite songs in Hebrew, Yid-
dish, English and Russian
obviously thrilled the audi-
ence and the room reverber-
ated as people sang along,
clapped and danced. The
Menorah was provided by
the Barry Schneider family.
