A series of summer parties highlighted the
festivities for several well-known Big D families.
Pre-nuptial parties honoring Fonda and
Leonard Stern before their August 7 wedding in
the Grand Ballroom of the Warwick Post Oak
Hotel started with a luncheon and kitchen shower
in Houston at the Westwood Country Club hosted
by Mmes. Sam Abramson, Marvin Aronowitz,
Morris Goldberg, Reuben Goldman, Isabel
Reichek, and Mrs. Leonard Schwartz. A “His and
Hers” Barshower and Cookout followed at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Segal, brother and
sister-in-law of the bride, who were co-hosts with
the bride’s sister and husband, Dr. and Mrs. Paul
Levine. Back in Dallas, Mrs. Jerome Bemel and
Mrs. Melvin Goldstein were co-hosts at a lun-
cheon and linen shower at the Bemel home. A
buffet-Italian supper party was given in their
honor by Mr. and Mrs. Victor Ladd at their home.
A dinner party and recipe shower in Houston
was given by Mrs. Fred Konig.
out-of-towners attended an
Oneg Shabbat hosted by
Marion and Ito Perl and
Estelle and Sol Barzune at
the Barzune home. After
Saturday morning Sabbath
Services at Tiferet Israel,
the families and out-of-town-
ers were honored at a
luncheon at the Westin
Hotel in the Galleria by
Martha and Dan Morguloff
and Shirley and Marvin
Shwiff. The groom’s par-
ents, Miriam and Max
Vernon hosted the Rehear-
sal Dinner at the Chaparral
Club in the Southland Life
Building on Saturday eve-
ning. Hosts at a wedding
morning brunch were Deb-
bie and Ida Strasmick,
cousin and aunt of the
bridegroom.
Guests came from coast to
coast to share in the simcha.

When Sherie Ellen Zip-
koff, daughter of Barbara
and Steve Zipkoff, cele-
brates her Bat Mitzvah this
Friday evening and Satur-
day morning, sharing the

and Mrs. Jack Zipkoff and 10

and Mrs. Bernard Wishow.
The Bachelorette party in
Houston was given by
bridesmaids, Evone Cohen.
The Bachelor party in
Austin was given by the
best man, and groom’s
brother, Alan Stern. Co-
hosts at a bridal luncheon at
Sackowitz Post Oak Restau-
rant were Mrs. Harry Wish-
now, Mrs. Irving Wishnow
and Mrs. Sam Kaplan. Mr.
and Mrs. Leonard A. Stern
of Dallas honored their son
and his bride at the
Rehearsal Dinner for 160
out-of-town guests at the
Warwick Post Oak Hotel.
Co-hosts with Mr. and Mrs.
Leon Mucasey at a wedding
morning brunch at their
home were Messrs, and Mrs.
Charles Davidoff, Jack Fink,
Sylvan Krassoff and the
Sandy Schwartz’s. Follow-
ing their wedding trip to
Mexico, the newly-weds are
residing at 2116 Nob Hill in
Carrollton.
Before Pamela Burg and
Jay Vernon were married on
August, 21 at Temple
Emanu-El, the couple, and
their families, were honored
at a series of parties. Mmes.
Bert Goetz and Gerardo
Weinstein entertained at a
miscellaneous shower for
the bride at the Weinstein
home on July 23. An
Around-the-Clock dinner-
shower was given by Sylvia
and Murray Benenson and
Bertha Kurzban at the Ben-
enson home on July 28th.
The families of the bride and
groom were honored on
Aug. 4 at a dinner at
Lombardy’s Restaurant
hosted by Wilma and Arnold
Levine and Mr. Pepe’s on
Aug. 11 hosted by Mrs. Bea
Goldman. A Sunday brunch
on August 14 for the families
was given by Harry and
Maggie Furst and Bert and
Terry Romberg at the
Furst’s home. A supper-
shower the next evening had
as co-hosts, Nancy Ritter,
Naomi Sherp and Blanche
Weinberger. A dinner for
the families and out-of-town-
ers on August 18 had as
co-hosts Mrs. Edith Fried-
man and Ben and Eve
Karlebach at the Friedman
home. Co-hosts with Elea-
nore Trachtenberg at a
Shabbat Dinner at her home
were Abby and Bob Alpert
and Sabra and Bernie Klein.
