Mel Minsey and Mildred Krueger
A new musical act in town,
“The Geritols” is receiving
rave notices. Seventy-four
years young, Mel Minsey is
the Nelson Eddy of the trio
and his counterpart, is
Mildred “Jeanette McDon-
ald” Krueger, a sportily 72
year old youngster. Talented
musician, Marvin Gross, 77,
is their accompanist.
The trio volunteers at all
retirement homes, nursing
homes, and other places, such
adVemple Emanu-El’s Lei-
sure Club and Couples Club,
White Rock Couples Club,
Cong. Sbearith Israel, Scot-
tish Rite Children’s Hospital
and the list goes on and on.
They recently received ac-
colades for their performance
at the Na'Amat meeting as
well as at many others. All
since starting in July ’93.
Now booking for 1994,
their programs have met with
resounding applause. Every
time they perform, they are
asked bow soon can they re-
turn. They have performed
at the Jewish Community
Center, three times; the Fo-
rum at Park Lane, twice;
Golden Acres, three times;
Byers Center, twice and
Walnut Place, twice.
They ’ re having a ball while
doing a Mitzvah. Interested
groups, by the way, can call

In the News: Tanya Lefton
Harris has been named
Southwest Field Director of
Women’s American ORT.
The Southwest Field area
includes Texas, New Mexico
and the Greater New Orleans
area. The announcement also
signals the opening of ORT’s
first Field office in Dallas,
the office was previously lo-
cated in Houston.
In this new position, Hac-<
ris will be responsible for
marketing, fund-raising,
membership and administra-
tion in the Southwest Field
Area. She brings to ORT an
extensive professional back-
ground in communications,
public relations, marketing
corporate contributions,
fund-raising and organiza-
tional administration.

Big D Chapter of B’nai
B’rith Women is planning a
special outing Wednesday,
November 17, to the Omni
Theatre in Fort Worth where
the featured film is “Rain
Forest’’ The trip is open to
anyone interested.
Members and guests will
board a bus at 11:30 ajn. in
the parking lot at the JCC
where the bus will leave
promptly at 11:45 for Fort
Worth. The movie begins at
1 p m with a running time ol
approximately 45 minutes.
Expected time for return to
the JCC is 3:30 p.m.
Cost for the bus trip, a de-
licious lunch aboard the bus
and the movie is $15. For
reservations, please send

Preschool and Learning Cen-
ter will hold their Annual
Book Fair, beginning Sun-
day, Nov. 14, from 9 am. -
1:30 p.m. at the synagogue,
720 Lookout Drive in
Richardson. On hand will be
a large and extensive collec-
tion of both Jewish and gen-
eral interest books and music
for children. The children’s
books and music were se-
lected by Rootabaga
Bookery. Judaica books of
interest to adults and fami-
lies will be available.
Bagels and beverages will
be available for purchase on
Sunday morning.
Two favorite storytellers,
Ellen Emerman and Lynn
Baslrind will delight children
of all ages. The Book Fair
will continue through Friday,
Nov. 19. Admission is free.
Profits from the book sales
will benefit The Beth Torah
Preschool and Learning Cen-
ter to expand their facilities
and programs.

Our local chapter of the Zionist Orga-
nization of America will hold its annual
Kfar Silver Gala at the Westin Galleria
Saturday, November 13.
A silent auction and champagne re-
ception starting at 6:00 p.m. will pre-
cede the dinner.
Featured will be nationally known co-
median David Brenner, who is also a
writer and screenwriter, in his unusual
portrayal of homespun ethnic humor.
To be honored will be two of the Dallas
Jewish Community’s top workers: Zelda
Sobel and Dr. Allan Shulkin. Each of
these worthy individuals have labored
through the years in working for and
helping Dallas’ many noteworthy Jew-
ish charitable and community organi-
