The Jacksboro Lions
Club accepts the baton and
is running with it. Since
the announcement by the
Jacksboro Chamber of
Commerce saying they
could not coordinate Sum-
merfest this year, every-
one has been talking. The
Lions Club is in the final
stages of planning a sum-
mer festival for Jacksboro.
The event will be called
the Jacksboro Lions Club
Carnival and Fair and is
planned for June 8-12. The
carnival and events will
n nightly at 6 p.m. dur-

received any funds from
the city or county to help
host the event and they are
seeking private and busi-
ness donations.
Lions Club President
Patricia Russell explains,
“The club is about $3,000
short from being able to do
all that we want to do this
year. The more funding,
the better the entire event
could be.”

The Jack County Sheriff’s
Posse Rodeo will host John-
ny Cooper at the rodeo dance
Saturday night, June 4 at
Hwy 380 West.
At age 22, Texas singer,
songwriter and guitarist,
Johnny Cooper is already a
well-traveled musician, hav-
ing released three albums,
with 2007’s “Ignition” sell-
ing over 25,000 copies. He
has performed over 10,000
shows, averaging 200 a year.
His new album “Follow”
(Tenacity Records) is a blend
of soul, blues, rock and pop
that’s exemplified by the first
single “Bring Me Down.”
Other album stand-outs in-
clude “Crazy,” “Take Your
Number” and the soul-pow-
ered opening track, “Don’t
Feel Like That Anymore.”
In his seven years as a pro-
fessional musician, Cooper
has garnered a large follow-
ing in his home state of Texas
and neighboring Oklahoma.
His first album, “Live At the
Pub,” was voted “Best Live
CD in 2006” and Texas En-
tertainer of the Year (2006
and 2007) in the Payne
County Line Oklahoma Mu-
sic Awards.
Tickets are $20 and can be
bought at Lady Bandit, Nash
Hardware, or Ace’s West in
Jacksboro. You can also call
