Ballinger Sidewalk Showcase_
Saturday, March 29, 2014 Ballinger side-
walks along the 700 block of Hutchings Av-
enue will be lined with vendors for your shop-
ping pleasure. There will be a large variety of
merchandise available for purchase. Jewelry
and fashion accessories, home decor, wooden
crosses, solar yard art flowers, stained glass,
antique and western furniture, baby cloth-
ing and blankets, etc. Please join us for a fun
filled day!
Small Town ACTS Women’s Retreat_
Small Town ACTS Women’s Retreat will
conduct a retreat for women on June 19 thru
June 22, 2014 at the Christ Retreat Center in
San Angelo. Give yourself this gift of time with
God and all denominations of ladies. It will
be a weekend you will never forget. Cost of
the retreat includes meals and lodging for the
three days. Please do not keep the cost of the
retreat keep you from going. Financial help is
available for those who need help. A deposit
is required to reserve your place with the bal-
ance due at the Thursday evening check-in.

Immunization clinics in Runnels County
Texas Department of State Health Services
will have two immunization clinics in Runnels
County. For your convenience, please call to
schedule an appointment, if no answer leave a
message.
The clinic in Winters will be from 1:30 to
5:30 p.m. Monday, April 7 at the Professional
Building, 110 South Main, Suite 108. For you
convenience please use rear entrance (Grant
Street).
The clinic in Ballinger will be from 10 a.m. to
12 noon and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, April 10
at 600 Strong.
Please bring child’s immunization records.
If child has Medicaid, please bring card. For
more information, call (325) 754 4945.
1927 yearbook donated to the Carnegie
Library_
The Carnegie Library has a 1927 yearbook
called “The Cotton Boll B.H.S” that was donat-
ed by the Edmiaston Family in honor of Lola
Laxson who can be found in the yearbook.
Ballinger recycling center new hours
Effective March 31, 2014 new hours for the
Ballinger recycling center will be Wednesday
and Thursday 8-12 and 1-5, and Friday and
Saturday 10-2 and 3-7.
New hours at the Carnegie Library_
The Carnegie Library has new hours. Tues-
day the library will be open 9 a.m. through 5
p.m., Wednesday through Friday hours will
be 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m.
until 2 p.m.
Carnegie Library upcoming events_
The Carnegie Library will be holding several
fundraisers to help fund the library. The Golf
Tournament will be June 28 and June 29. The
Women’s Luncheon will be held on September
6, and the Hee Haw will be held in October at
a date to be announced.
Christmas Tea is December 6, and the 2014
Tour of the Houses will be held on December
14. More information will be provided as these
fundraisers approach.
The Carnegie Library is in need of volun-
teers. Please come by and let us know, we will
have a training session soon.
Library fine forgiveness period_
National Library Week, April 13-19, the
Carnegie Library will be having a Fine Forgive-
ness Period during days of operation. This is
for people who have collected large fines by
not returning an item. If the item or items are
returned undamaged the fine for that item/
items will be forgiven.
Fundraiser for Chad McDuffee_
An account has been established at the First
National Bank of Ballinger to accept dona-
tions or sponsorships for Chad McDuffee.
McDuffee is a Ballinger native and veteran
of the Iraq War. Chad lost most of the use of
his right foot after sustaining an injury while
on deployment in Iraq in 2006. Chad earned
a bronze medal in the 2013 Valor Games
Midwest in powerlifting and is currently trying
to earn a spot on the U.S. Paralympic Team
in time for the 2016 World Games in Brazil.
Donations to the account will be used to help
defray his travel expenses and purchase spe-
cial equipment for training.
Alanon meetings_
Alanon meetings are held at the First United
Methodist Church on Monday and Wednesday
night at 7 p.m. Enter on Ave A and Seventh
St. side. Alanon is open to all — for family,
friends of alcoholics or drugs including rela-
tionship issues and all other forms of addic-

GED classes_
Free GED classes at Ballinger Elementary.
Current photo ID and Social Security card are
necessary to enroll. Classes are held at Ball-
inger Elementary School 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Tues-
days and Thursdays. For more information

Sobriety First AA Group_
Sobriety First Alcoholics Anonymous Group
will meet at the First United Methodist Church
every Monday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 p.m.

TEEA ‘Friendly Neighbors’_
The Texas Extension Education Agency
“Friendly Neighbors” invites everybody in the
Winters and Ballinger area who is interested
in learning about cooking, gardening and arts
and crafts to join us on the fourth Tuesday
of every month (except during summer) at 2
p.m. at the Runnels County Extension Office
on the corner of South Seventh and Sealy Ave
in Ballinger.

FUMC Seekers Contemporary Service
The First United Methodist Church has the
Seekers Contemporary Service on Sundays at
5 p.m. in the sanctuary. For more information

Women, Infants and Children, located at 706
Strong Ave in Ballinger is open Monday thru
Wednesday 7 a.m. till noon and 1 p.m. till 6 p.m.
Closed every third and fourth Monday

is open to many incomes and all kinds of
families.
Runnels Co Alzheimer Support Group
The monthly Runnels County Alzheimer
Support Group will be held at Central Texas
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center the second
Tuesday of the month from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
All concerned citizens are invited to share in
discussion and education about the disease
process and care giver perspective. There is no
charge and this is a public service sponsored
by the National Alzheimer Association.
Ballinger Masonic Lodge meeting_
Masonic Lodge 643, 500 N Broadway, Ball-
inger, Texas. Stated meetings are at 7 p.m. on
the first Monday of every month except for
holidays if it falls on that Monday. For more

Paint Rock Masonic Lodge meetings_
Paint Rock Masonic Lodge No. 613 meets
the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m.
Supper will be provided after the meeting. The
location is the Masonic Lodge building located

Scott King (left) was
recently elected to the Run-
nels Soil and Water Conser-
vation Board of Directors.
