ACM sells three newspaper divisions;
retains holdings in Texas, Southwest

STAFF REPORT
IRVING- American
Consolidated Media (ACM)
announced Wednesday,
March 13, that is has sold
three newspaper divi-
sions to Adams Publish-
ing Group LLC (APG).
The newspaper divisions
sold include the Superior
Publishing Group, Ohio
Publishing Group and
Chesapeake Publishing
Group.
Following the sale,
American Consolidated
Media now consists of
two regions, ACM-South-
west and ACM-Valley,
with print and digital
holdings in Texas, Okla-
homa and Kansas.
ACM-Southwest consists
of 15 paid newspapers
and five controlled-
distribution publications.
Paid publications in Texas
include the Waxahachie
Daily Light, Midlothian
Mirror, Stephenville
Empire-Tribune, Glen
Rose Reporter, Brown-
wood Bulletin, Ballinger
Ledger, Winters Enter-
prise, Alice Echo-News
Journal, Nueces County
Record-Star, Duval Press
and Freer Press, as well
as controlled-distribution
publications in the Ellis
County Trading Post,
Cross Timbers Trading
Post, Heartland Trading
Post, and Alice Review.
Paid publications in Okla-
homa include the Miami
News-Record, Grove Sun
and Delaware County
Journal along with the
controlled-distribution
publication the Northeast
Oklahoma Trading Post. In
Kansas, ACM’s paid pub-
lication is the Cherokee
County News-Advocate.
ACM-Valley consists of
controlled-distribution
publications through the
Rio Grade Valley region
of Texas. Titles include
the Valley Bargain Book-
Brownsville, Valley Bargain
Book-Harlingen, Valley
Town Crier (McAllen),
Edinburg Review, Laredo’s
Bargain Book and Ad Sack.

our divestiture,” said Scott
Wright, Chief Executive
Officer of ACM. “We knew
there were interested,
qualified buyers and Ad-
ams Publishing Group was
a pleasure to do business
with. I feel comfortable
knowing the publications
were sold to a group dedi-
cated to excellence.”
American Consolidated
Media publishes more
than 2 5 local publica-
tions, which consists of
daily and weekly newspa-
per, shoppers/specialty
publications, associated
websites and mobile ap-
plications.
Concho 4-H receives Monsanto donation

PAINT ROCK- Local
farmer Cody Weishuhn, of
Concho, Texas, directed
$2,500 to Concho County
4-H through America’s
Farmers Grow Communi-
ties. The donation will go
towards yearly enrollment
fees, 4-H project supplies,
contest fees and commu-
nity service projects.
Thanks to the support of
farmers across the coun-
try, more than $3.2 million
is being directed to non-
profits in 1,289 counties in
39 states.
“We would like to take
the time to thank Mr. Cody
Weishuhn, for nominating
the Concho County 4-H
Club for this donation,”
said Brady Evans, county
extension agent. “The sup-
port from our community
is what keeps this organi-
zation going, not only on a
local level, but also across

as schools, fire depart-
ments, community centers
and youth organizations
like 4-H and FFA.

Communities launched in
2010, and has since do-
nated over $16 million to
more than 6,500 nonprofit
organizations.

Robert and Gena King of Ballinger, Texas are
proud to announce the engagement and upcoming
wedding of their daughter, Tiffany Kay King to
Raymond Grothaus, son of Jennifer and the late
Ed Grothaus of Abilene, Texas. Tiffany is the
granddaughter of Mrs. Kay Black of Ballinger and
Mr. Eugene Rogers of Tuscola, Texas. Raymond is
the grandson of Mrs. Maureen Bremerman Vallerie
of Mazatlan, Mexico. Tiffany is a paralegal at The
Bailey Law Firm in San Angelo, Texas. Raymond
is the division manager of the landfill and hauling
operations for Republic Services in Abilene, Texas.
Tiffany and Ray will be married June 6, 2014, in
Cancun, Mexico. The happy couple will make their
home in Abilene.

Air Force
basic training grad
Air Force Airman Roland M. Almendarez graduated from
basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lack-
land, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program
that included training in military discipline and studies,
Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare
principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits
toward an associate in applied science degree through
the Community College of the Air Force.
Almendarez is the son of Brenda Martinez of Ballinger.
He is a 2011 graduate of Paint Rock High School.
