The Peters Colony Historical Society of Dallas County, Texas Organized September 21. 1971 P. 0. Box 110846 Carrolltan, Texas 75011 April 1985 Dear Reader: You will find in this issue of the journal, dedicated to our churches, a good representation of the various denominations. We have used all the material submitted for this issue and there are yet many other churches and denominations which are not represented. ELM FORK SETTLEMENTS 1977 by Georgia Ogle has historiesofour early churches, and you are referred to that publication for more information. We are reminded of the picture of the early pioneer who brought his musket and his Bible to the new frontier. He was busy at first to build a place to live and then many times was involved right away in the erection of a place for worship. The early church had a mission spirit, bringing with it the establishment of schools, courts of justice, law and order to the region. We enjoy the countless benefits today, which were established by the early churches and their people. Sincerely yours, Presi HG:vo
