Intersection needed with resurrection
BY CRAIG V1RE
Pastor
Bethesda Baptist Church
In geometry, an intersection is
formed when two lines cross at a
point common to both lines. In driv-
ing, an intersection is the place w here
two streets meet. The area common
to both streets forms the intersection
As we observe Easter this Sun-
day morning, it is important to con-
sider our need of an intersection with
Christ's resurrection. When our lives
cross the reality of a risen Savior at
the point of Jesus* resurrection, we
experience an intersection with the
power of His resurrection which can
give us new life as well.
What happens when we experi-
ence an intersection with Christ's
resurrection?
First, to Life's ordinary ques-
tions He gives extraordinary an-
swers. Those journeying to the tomb
in Mark 16:1-7 asked a question,
"Who will roll away the stone for
us?H The stone scaling the tomb was
extremely large and moving it
seemed an impossible task.
Upon arrival, they discovered it
had already been rolled away. The
impossible had been made possible
by Jesus' resurrection.
Jesus Christ has the answer to
immovable stones of our lives. How
can our sins be forgiven? How can
men be made right with God? How
can we know for sure that we have
eternal life? These impossible things
for men arc made possible through
Jesus Christ's death and resurrection.
Second, to life' ordinary weak-
ness He gives extraordinary power.

Entering the tomb, they saw a man
dressed in a white robe who told
them, "You are looking for Jesus the
Nazarene, who has been crucified.
He is risen. He is not here...'
They were further encouraged
to view the place where His body had
lain and witness the undisturbed
grave clothes.
All who receive the free gift Je-
sus made of Himself on the cross for
our sin and express faith in His resur-
rection may know eternal life. Jesus
comforted Martha at the death of
Lazarus by saying, "I am the resur-
rection and the life; he who believes
in me shall live even if he dies, and
every one who believes in me shall
never die, do you believe this?
Third, to life's ordinary tasks He
gives an extraordinary commission.
The individual within the tomb com-
manded them to "Go tell His dis-
ciples and Peter”. They were to share
the glorious news and awesome real-
ity that Jesus is alive!
Once we by faith believe in a
resurrected Savior and experience
the new life He offers within our own
lives, He then instructs us to share
that resurrection power w iih others
that they may experience new life as
well. This becomes our primary pur-
pose in life.
Finally to life's ordinary failures

He brings extraordinary love. Those
gathered at the tomb were to tell the
disciples and Peter of Jesus'resurrec-
tion. A message of love and forgive-
ness was extended to Peter who had
denied he even knew Jesus during
His crucifixion.
To all who express faith in
Christ, He extends His forgiveness
rather than punishment. His comfort
rather than condemnation. He died so
that our sin could be forgiven, suf-
fered that we might be freed from
punishment. He knows our failures
but loves us in spite of them.

An intersection with Christ's
resurrection brings victory over sin,
death, and the grave. Through it an
individual can experience forgive-
ness of sin and obtain God's free gift
of eternal life.
Would you allow your life to
cross the reality of the empty tomb
and experience an intersection with
the powe. of Christ's resurrection this
Easter?
