Standing Up For Texas Children
Today less than one-third of child support
owed is actually paid. Thousands of cases are
stalled in the courts.
That’s a disgrace. Unpaid child support is the
number-one cause of child poverty in Texas.
As a freshman state senator, Chris Harris
passed seven bills to improve child support
payments and locate nonpaying parents. Chris’
legislation brought an extra $29 million federal
dollars to strengthen Texas’ child support efforts.
That’s how basic reform protects Texas
children.
