SHOE STAMPS
With announcement that
Airplane Stamp No. 2, in War
Ration Book 3, is added to the
current list of valid shoe ra-
tion stamps May 1, OPA today
revealed that distribution of
rationed shoes during the year
exceeded production by 53,-
000,000 pairs.
The total production ran to
469.044.000 pairs, OPA de-
clared after careful survey of
monthly records of supply and
demand. Of this number
295.122.000 pairs of rationed-
type shoes and 187,000 pairs
of imported shoes were avail-
able for civilian trade.
OPA also appealed again to
the buying public and shoe
merchants to refrain from ten-
