London, Jan. 22. (UP)—A_
sustained German submarine
and air attack against an At-
lantic convoy recently was
beaten off in a running four-
day battle in which powerful
Allied forces, including Amer-
ican naval units, sank one
The Timpson “B” basket-
ball team lost a couple of
thrillers to the Tenaha “B”
basketeers last Wednesday
night in the Tenaha gymna-
sium and FYiday evening in
the local gym by the close
score of 11-13 and 8-9, respec-
tively.
However, the smooth, click-
ing "A" consisting of Kyle at
center, F. M. Crump and Har-
old Baker at guard, Gary,
Ramsey and Clay at forward,
inflicted a sweet revenge for
the “B” defeats by outscoring
the Tenaha “A” quint 35-27
and 22-19, respectively.
Interest in basketball in
the local school is soaring
with every day of practice,
with some twenty-five boys
contesting each other for place
on the teams. Several games
will be played during the
season, in spite of handicaps
resulting from war conditions.
