It is still hot and
dry. We had a few sho-
wers around- But we are
still needing some
rains. Some of the
nights have been cool-
ing off and are nice.
Our crowd for church
was -very small Sunday.
We had quite a few mis-
sing. But we had two
good sens ns and very
good Bible Study. Our
visitors for both set-
vices were Albert and
Inez Ingram from Tlmp-
son.They have also tak-
en the nursing home
back over.. We will be
going from our church
to do some singing over
there sometime. The
James Sigler family
went to Houstcm- visit-
ing his brother. Mrs.
Mildred got home from
the hospital last week.
She's doing fine, also
Janet Smith is up and
Improving everyday.
Amanda Adams had a lov-
ely shower and lots of
very nice gifts. Her
wedding will be Satur-
day night.
One of life long resi-
dents passed away J.C.
(Bub) Crawford. He will
be missed by all. Our
deepest sympathy goes
out to his family, wife
Jimaie, and his brother
Ray and the rest of his
family are remembered
iin our prayers.
Also sorry to learn of
Susie Goolsby's death.
Our neighbor Cletis
Wheeler was her sister-
fn-law. The family is

Wewburn Lodge #97 re-
ports their first meet-
ing in their new build-
ing was nice ahd a lar-
ge crowd turned out.
Same folks come as far
away as California.
Their regular meetings
will be the first Tues-
day of every month from
now on.
Margie Nobles has a new
grandbaby. She was bom
July 21 in Houston. Her
name Is Holly. She
weighed 99 lbs.Margie's
son. Chuck, wife.daugh-
ter Ashley and Holly,
came up to show grand-
ma and L.B. and great-
grandmother Tressie ko-
meshi.the new baby this
past weekend. Holly is
a beautiful little
girl.

Mrs. Ora Jackson has
recently returned from
the spacious home of
Orville and Margaret
Gaitner in Houston. Or-
ville wanted so much
that his auntie be
there that.he cane for
her in his plane. She
reports that-it was a
most enjoyable occasion
with 51 relatives at-
tending. They came from
far and near: from Wash-
ington, D.C., Austin,
Lubbock, Waco, Dallas,
Timpsor. Oak Ridge,
Louisiana. Katy. Conroe
Fort Worth. Denver, and
of course Houston."Ev-
eryone had fun, and so
far as I know, all
reached home safe and
sound, and that Is the
best part of all." she
said.

her impression of the
womens' work as report-

In our home this week-
end were our grandson
Warren Billingsley and
his friend Loretta
Weiss from Houston.
They brought a boat
and after lunch Sunday
and a “warm" hike over
the farm, they drove
to Nurvaul for a ride
on the lake and a lit-
tle fishing and left
for Houston early Mon-
day morning to look for
an apartment for Loret-
ta near Rice University
where she has a fellow-
ship in the physics de-
partment. She is now
employed by NASA and
her greatest interest
is space and astronomy.
(She admittted to an
ambition to be a work-
ing physicist on the
space station one of
these days.)
Mr. and IB’s. Morace
Lake went to Houston
lest weekend to tne
home of their son Ter-
rell Lake to be witn
their granddaughter
Jennifer Feil and baby
of San Diego. Jennifer
has been ill and her
husband is in the Navy.
So they flew to Houston
so that her parents
can look after her and
the baby while he nas
to be away.

of Mrs. Goolsby last
Tuesday afternoon were
her daughter Nora and
husband Edwin Rice from
far-away Natural Bridge,
New York. They had only
recently been here to
see her mother and at-
tend the reunion of the
THS Class of 19*0. They
will remain this time
for two or three weeks
visiting with family.
Rev. Graham Pugh, ac-
companied by his wife
Dorothy, came from De
Ridder, Louisiana, end
preached at the First
Christian Church last
Sunday in the absence
of Bro. Newell Hall,
interim pastor. He and
nis wife Frieda were
in Oesnomes, Iowa,
representing the church
in the National Assem-
bly. The afternoon
Christian Women's Fel-
lowship is inviting all
of the church women and
visitors to attend the
monthly meeting next
Monday afternoon , Au-
gust 12, at 3 o'clock
in the fellowship hall
