THE BAllTLETT TRIBUNE
thereby relievo us from the
greater sacrifices.
I repeat the American pcfople
have not realized how serious the
situation is. We can not over-
come Hitler's industrial efforts
by working part time or by car-
rying on "business as usual" If
America does not get on a full
'war-time economy now such an
economy is certain to be forced
on us very soon. President
Roosevelt realizes the danger
but even his eloquent and force-
ful appeals have not aroused the
masses of our people and no
consideration of public necessity
seems to influence such selfish
and un-American leaders as
John L. Lewis and his alien
hinchman. Harry Bridges. The
President's declaration of unlim
ited national emergency must
'be implemented by unlimited ac
tion. I have written Mr. Roose-
velt expressing my approval and
support of his policy and urging
that he act without hesitation.
FThis Congress has never fail-
ed to give the President full
cooperation and support in every
policy of national defense he has
suggested. Only this week the
House voted to continue the
President's power in regard to
the stabilization of the currency.
There was a rather long drawn-
out fight on this but when the
vote came it was almost entire-
ly nlong party lines with practi-
cally all Democrats voting for
the bill.
By far the most important
Domestic action in Washington
this past week was the signing
of the 85 parity loan bill by
the President. This measure to-
gether with the appropriations
that will doubltess be made for
soil conservation and price ad-
justment payments will bring
our farmers much closer than
they have been to a fair income
level at any time since the es-
tablishment of the A. A. A.
With best wishes I am
Yours very .sincerely

Undertaking "to combat the
rising tide of smoking on the
part of high school graduates"

University recently announced

university's women students.
He said that (beginning next
fall "high school girls graduates

of smoking will not be admitted
to the institution and any young
lady who smokes will be sent
