Tsui Lights On W
Farmers who have paid
taxes until they can’t own an
automobile, and who venture
out on the fine public highways
in their wagons, must now take
further precautions besides
driving over iu the ditch all
the time.
The state is going to make
them put tail lights on the
wagons.
Not lights, but red and while
reflectors, all that are required
on trucks.
The highway patrol has
been instructed to "enforce”
the law requiring farmers- to
put a white reflector on the
left and a red one on the
right side of the rear of his
wagons. Whether enf- ce-
ment will mean arrest and Cue
for, the fanner, or merely in-
structions to equip horse-drawn
vehicles apparently was with-
in the discretion ot the enforce
meat officers. -
As a suggestion, if the state
has power to protect the high-
ways from traffic dangers, it
wouldn’t be a bad Idea to stop
some of the trucks that have
glaring headlights that blind
all approaching driven for
400 yards and either take the
headlights off entirely, or take
their light osrt of the eyes of
other drivers and put it down
on the read. A good many
hundred people have been kill-
ed because of such glaring
headlights than by the failure
of farmers to put tall lights on
the wagons they drive down in
the ditches while money-mak-
ing traffic hogs the highway
paid far by the farmer and
other citizens.—Waco News-
Tribune.
