raglan shoulders have double
pleats to make them interest-

jmed with buttons.
A small roiled collar with
small bow tie is effective and
becoming. The skirt is slender

Double pleats, like those in

ON TEXAS FARMS
By Minnie Fisher Cunningham
Extension Service Editor
There are plenty of sum-
mer time jobs in the yard be-
sides lawn mowing—even if
the main planting season is
earlier or later, according to
Miss Onah Jacks, Extension
landscape specialist.
Underpinning the house is
one of them. She reports that
it is being done by yard dem-
onstrators with various types
of locally available material.
Native rocks in West Texas;
native pine in East Texas; wil-
low sticks in some places. Dry
goods boxes are good in any-
place. too.

Identifying, studying, mark-
ing and trenching native
shrubs for later transplanting
into yards is a natural summer
picnic job.
Equipping outdoor living
rooms is a job to do now while
the need to use them is felt
more fully than at any other
season. Tables, benches, fire-
places, swings, see-sawg, ar-
bors, sandpiles, pools and trel-
lises all have found nse in
yard demonstrators’ outdoor
living rooms.
Preparing for fall planting
| is another summer time yard
job commended by Miss Jacks.

to get the ground in shape.
