THE BARTLETT TRIBUNE Friday July G 1951
At Long Last Highway 95 Completed
And It's A Smooth Ride North Again
Completion of the Inst gap in
Highway 95 connecting Bitrtlett
and Holland with Temple and
points north has been predicted
so many times in this newspaper
that it is with some hesitation
that this reporter states that "at
last the job is done."
Joe Brown state highway
department engineer states the
highway is completed and open-
ed to the public and three 01
four trips that were smooth and
comfortable riding has about
convinced this newspaper that it
is safe to agree. About all thai'
could be lacking now is a stripe
down the middle provided one is
scheduled to be there.
The final gap of paving on the
road was between the Little Kiv-
er bridge and Bartlett. Total
cost on the final project was
$538906 181379 for paving
and $357527 for grading and
bridges.
The people of the Bartlett
Holland Sparks area voted a
$50000 bond issue to purchase
the right of way for the new
highway in addition to the
above. Many weary months were
spent in seeking to secure the
right of way without voting a
bond issue and other weary
months were spent in securing
the right of way and getting the
work started after the 'bond
issue was voted.
After the dirt work was com-
pleted more than a year was
spent in graveling and topping
the road.
The old road was completely
worn out and the new road bed
dangerous to travel on for so
long that people in the south
end of Bell County went north
only when necessity demanded it.
Now all of that is over and it is
a smooth comfortable ride tc
Temple or to the county seat.
Belton.
The next to last section ol
Highway 95 finished was from
Little River to Temple and the
cost there was $245508 mak-
ing the last two projects worth
$784444.!
The section south of Bartlett
is also comparatively new hav-
ing been finished shortly after"
the war.
Highway 95 starts at Temple
and goes southward to Holland
Bartlett Taylor Elgin Bastrop
and Yoakum where roads branch
out to Corpus Christi and other
coastal points.
Mr. and iMrs. G. A. McGregor
of Lampasas visited Mrs. Jack
Sherman over the week-end.

ever thought I'd see the day "doing dishes" would
be fun. But thanks to my new electric dishwasher here it is!
Now . . . instead of making a quick disappearance after din-
ner . . . everybody heads for the kitchen.
Washing dishes the electric way you know is a small matter
of stacking them (as many as 60 at a time) safely into the
dishwasher and turning a switch.
In short order your dishes are automatically hygienically
double-washed double-rinsed and dried. No greasy dish-
cloths ... no dishpan hands.
No wonder my electric dishwasher's the most popular new
appliance I own!
See the new electric dishwashers now
on ditplay at your Electric Appliance
Dealer.
