Last Friday, my husband and
I attended and contributed to the
fund raiser for Shay Lamb
Benefield in DeLeon. We were
so impressed with how the citi-
zens of DeLeon pulled together
to make it happen. They did a
magnificent job, from the food,
to the quality of items donated,
to the number in attendance. It
wasn't over until midnight or so,
and they stayed to the end, mak-
ing sure the family knew that
the city of DeLeon cared. I must
say that DeLeon showea the
spirit of love and true charity
that I haven't seen in a while. 1
am also proud to say that
numerous citizens and business-
es in Dublin supported the event
as well. Thank you, DeLeon. I
was blessed to share in what
you did.

Roy and Dorthy Bloyd, of Comanche, celebrated their 60th
anniversary on December 19,2006. A reception will be held in their
honor on Saturday January 13, 2007 from 2-4 p.m. at the Pearl
Street Church of Christ in Comanche. All friends and family are
invited to attend.
A letter to Santy C.
Dear Santy, it has been a long
long time since I have written
you.
I have now moved from the
old home of loneliness and
despire.
Which stood at the end of
delusion and doubt. All the glo-
rious bright little bubbles that I
had in years gone by are now
either tarnished, broken,or tear
stained.
Please bring me a full supply
of these toys that I once had the
shinning bubble of joy, the tin-
kling bells of joy, gladness and
laughter that once rang in my
voice, the candle of light that
once shone in my eyes, the
frankness of mirth and sted fast
hope that once strengthened my
soul, and the star of once under-
standing love and hope that
once glowed in my soul.
In years gone by I did not
realize that I did not appericiate
those precious treasures and

care for them as I should have,
but now repenting my clever-
ness and unbelief.
I am asking you to remember
me with a new supply this
Christmas. I will hang my
empty Heart right here by the
chimney Santy please this is
what I want.
Give me a large basket of
forgiveness, which to curl up all
bitterness, useless brooding. A
large basket of forgiveness for
those who robbed me of my
laughter and filled my eyes with
tears.
Please leave me enough of
the seament of hope to mend the
shattered fragement of joy.
Tuck in a little song of joy
and cheer and please, Santy
leave quite a lot of plane old
fashion faith and understanding,
and unselfish love that I can’t
share freely with my neighbors.
Sincerely a grown up child
Mrs Butler, age 89
Dublin Texas.
Sunday our attendance was low, but the sermon was really
good, and Bro. Jim gets better and better all the time. We also
really like Pat's piano playing. Bro. Jim and Sarah Barbee sang
"Hark, the Herald Angels Sing" as a special. We missed some
regulars due to them having company, but some of them came
Sunday night. At our business meeting, we decided to dismiss
church Sunday night, Christmas Eve. Those who want to, and
weather permitting, will meet at the church at 6p.m. to go
Christmas caroling instead of having church. This Sunday,
some members brought stockings full of fruit and candy, and a
501b. bag of peanuts to share with everybody.
Leta Mae Hughes said she was glad to have Jeanie and
Richard Jerkins to visit her Sunday afternoon.
Frank and Rita Barbee worked on fence this week and
cleared out a bunch of brush.
Friday, John and Sarah Barbee attended the benefit fund rais-
er in DeLeon for Shay Lamb Benefield. Tuesday, John and
Sarah went to Zfephyr to celebrate her dad's birthday, and to cel-
ebrate Christmas with Bryan and Lydia Seals and son, Daniel,
of Abilene, and Darren and Rebecca Browder and their three
little ones: Tori, Ben, and Charlotte of Dublin.
Bud and Wanda Davidson celebrated Christmas last weekend
with their family.
We need to keep Byron Gilbreath in our prayers. He is the
brother-in-law to Tad and Gene Gilbreath. Byron is in the hos-
pital from taking a fall.
Congratulations to Virginia Ann Stephen's grandson, Aaron
Stephen, and his wife both who graduated from veterinary
school.
The Brawleys and Pettijohns gathered at Janiece's place
(now Jerry's) to celebrate Christmas last weekend. Ronnie
Brawley had a mishap with a cattle panel and broke his collar-
bone. He'll be off of work for 6 weeks. We need to keep him in
our prayers.
Wanda, Barbara, and I delivered Christmas gifts to Golden
Age Manor from the Edna Hill Baptist Church and celebrated
Christmas with the residents.
Royce Landes visited some with me this week.
We wish everyone a good, safe, and happy Christmas.
