The Lady Lion soltball team
utilized their district open date to
play a pair of non district games
over the weekend against Eastland
and Graford.
Dublin traveled to Eastland on
Friday turd despite playing well,
they fell short losing to the Lady
Mavs 7-3.
Shelby Thiebaud gave Dublin a
1-0 lead in the top of the second
inning after scoring on a past ball
but Eastland answered with two
runs of their own in the bottom of
the inning.
Dublin w ould tie the game in the
top of the tliird w hen Amber Lew is
was hit by a pitch with the bases
loaded scoring Kendra Cannon.
The score remained tied until the
bottom of the fourth when Eastland
took the lead for good with a pair of
runs that came after Eastland was
able to string together 3 singles in a
row.
Dublin tried to mount a rally in
the sixth inning when MeKyla
Leatherwood led off the inning
w ith a double down the left field
line. Kristin Raybom drove in
leatherwood with another double
in the next at bat but Eastland was
able to get out of the side without
any further damage. The lardy
Mavs then tacked on two insurance
runs to ice the game.
“I felt like we played pretty' well.
Sometimes you just have to tip
your hat to the other team. They are
good, and that’s why we wanted to
play them,” said head roach Billy
Young.
Saturday was a different story as
Dublin trounced Graford 14-7.
Despite trailing early in the
game, Dublin was able to get their
act together and hammer Graford
over the last 5 innings.
“We came out flat early and
w ereprobablyalittleoven confident,”
said Young. “1 was disappointed
w ith some of the mis takes we
made, especially base running
mistakes. Part of that was my fault.
Those are mistakes we usually
don’t make. The grxxl thing is that
we were backed into a corner early
and fought our way out of it.” said
Young. Cayla Beck conti nued to
terrorize opposing pitchers going 3
Tor 5 with two singles, a double,
and stolen base and a run scored.
Amber Lewis did damage as well
with a double, a triple, ai id two
MeKyla Leatherwood notched
her tenth win of the season after
coming in to relieve Whkely I trown
in the second inning.

Dublin picked up their third
district win with a 5-4 victory
over Bangs here Tuesday night.
Bangs jumped out to a 4-0
lead in the top of the first inning
but {hat was all they could
muster as Dublin shut the out
over the last six innings.
The Lady Lions chipped their
way back into the game one run
at a time w ith single runs in the
first through fifth inning. Kristin
Raybom paced the Lady Lions
offense going 2 for 2 with a
double and tw'o runs scored.
Shelby Thiebaud and Amber
Lewis also contributed a double
and an RBI each.
Lewis picked up her second
w in of the season in the pitchers
circle as the Lady Lions
increased their record to 12-8-1
on the season.

The JV Softball team
improved to 8-3 on the season
with a 9-5 win over Bangs
Tuesday night.
Jessica Moore and Jodi Belew
combined to drive in 3 runs
while Mariah Reeder and
Aubrey Leatherwood scored
two runs.each.
Bangs, who is regarded as
one of the better JV teams in the
district, couldn’t match Dublin’s
fire power as they were only
able to put together 3 base hits.
