C omanche County Extension Agent W hit Weems
Do you need a Private
Applicator Pesticide
License?
Several people have stopped
by or called the Extension Office
lately asking about a private
applicator license to apply
restricted use herbicides and
insecticides. If you are interested
in receiving a pesticide
applicator license there are a
few steps that you must take.
First stop by the Extension
office and purchase your
handbooks. They will cost
$40.00. Then you will need to
schedule a time to take the
training course. The training
course is offered via a video and
it must be watched in the
Extension Office. The training
will take about 3 hours. After
you have completed the training
I will sign a form that you can
take to the Texas Department of
Agriculture (TDA) office in
Stephenville and you will be
required to take a test. They
only offer test for private
applicators on the third
Wednesday of each month at 1
p.m. Once you have passed the
test you will send TDA $60 for
your license which will be good
for 5 years. During that 5 year
period you will be required to
collect 15 hours of Continuing
Education Units (CEU’s) to
renew your license.
