The 20th annual Taste
of Ennis event benefiting
Helping Hands of Ennis
is set at 6 p.m. Sept. 27 at
the Knights of Columbus
Hall.
The event will feature
food from restaurants
both locally and nation-
ally based. Tickets are
$10, available now at the
Helping Hands of Ennis
location at 604 NE Main
St. Tickets will also be
available at the door on
the night of the event.

Bring back old
prescriptions
Local law enforce-
ment, in partnership
with IMPACT Ennis and
Drug Prevention Re-
sources, will host a Pre-
scription Drug Take
Back on Sept. 29.
Between 10 a.m. and 2
p.m., officers will be col-
lecting unused and ex-
pired prescription and
over-the-counter medica-
tions for appropriate dis-
posal.
The Prescription Drug
Take Back is part of a na-
tional effort by the Drug
Enforcement Agency to
reduce the availability of
unmonitored medica-
tions in home medicine
cabinets.
To participate, bring
unused prescription
drugs to a Take Back lo-
cation. Medications will
be accepted at Super One
Foods in Ennis, located
at 1205 W. Ennis Ave.
Pills and liquid med-
ications will be accepted;
however, officers will not
be able to accept inhalers
or injection supplies.
The service is anony-
mous and free of charge.
No identification will be
required before disposal,
and no questions will be
asked.

Reunion set for
Oct. 5-6
The Ennis High
School Class of 1987 re-
union committee is look-
ing for classmates for its
25-year reunion Oct. 5-6.
The group will meet at
Lions Stadium to watch
the Homecoming football
game against Mansfield
Lake Ridge. A get-to-
gether has been dis-
cussed for after the game,
but is still being planned.
The group has also
planned a fish fry and
barn dance on Saturday,
Oct. 6 at the Gentry Barn,
at 5101 Lakeview Drive.
Tickets for that event are
$15 per person if ordered
before Sept. 21, and $20 at
the door. Dinner, drinks,
entertainment and more
are provided in the ticket
price, but no hard liquor
will be provided. Tickets
are on sale, and payment
can be remitted with a re-

vestigate complaints
made by, or on behalf of,
residents or their fami-
lies. Volunteer Ombuds-
men serve as advocates
for all residents, connect-
ing them to their broader
communities, affirming
their rights, and assist-
ing them in resolving
concerns.
No prior experience is
required to serve as a vol-
unteer ombudsman, but
volunteers must be at
least 18 years of age and
complete a free training
course that consists of
both classroom study
and training at local
nursing homes, lasting
up to 34 contact hours.
After training, volun-
teers serve an intern-
ship, working two hours
per week in their as-
signed facility Hours are
flexible and are deter-
mined by each volunteer.
Free certification
training is provided lo-
cally and begins in July.
The 4-day training is
once a week for four
weeks from 10 am to 3
pm.

Deaths
Albert L.Gurecky
Albert L. Gurecky, age 79 of Dallas, TX, passed
away September 7, 2012. He was born June 12,1933,
in Wills Point, TX, to Frank A. and Albina (Marek)
Gurecky. Albert was a member of
St. Pius X Catholic Church. He
served his country in the U.S. Army
during the Korean conflict sta-
tioned in Japan. Albert graduated
from the University of Texas
“Hook’em Horns” with a BA in Ac-
counting and was a defense con-
tract auditor, (DCAA).
Albert is survived by his children: Kathy Samels
and husband Ronny of Rowlett, TX, Jacque Cook
and husband Ronnie of Rowlett, TX, Mark Gurecky
of Garland, TX, and Glenn Gurecky of Mesquite,
TX; brothers: Milton and George Gurecky; grand-
children: Mitchel Samels, Jordan, Gabriel and Ash-
ton Cook and Lauren Gurecky. He is preceded in
death by his parents and son Kenny Gurecky.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Monday, Sep-
tember 10, 2012, at Sacred Heart Cemetery Mau-
soleum Chapel with a rosary at 9:30 a.m. Interment
will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Rest-Haven, Rowlett Chapel, 972-412-5195 is in
charge of arrangements.

Max Ludwig, 91, passed away in Ennis on Tues-
day, September 11, 2012.
