Perfect weather boosts
Bluebonnet Trails festival
Bright, clear skies helped the Ennis Bluebonnet Trails festival
bring a crowd to downtown Ennis on Saturday and Sunday.
Festival-goers got an earful from the Acoustic Sound Hounds (pic-
tured above), as well as the duo of Steve Weisberg and Roy Rivers
and local singer-songwriter Mathew Slovacek. Sightseers also
soaked in a display of classic cars that included a 1937 Packard
(pictured below), a Hudson Hornet and host of Studebakers and
other vehicles thanks to the North Texas Studebaker Drivers
Association.

Couple pulled from crashed sedan
Two people were airlifted to Baylor Dallas after a crash Monday
morning. Officer Jeff Bates of the Ennis Police Department said an
elderly couple pulled up to the traffic light in a four-door sedan at the
corner of West Ennis Avenue and Jeter Drive, when they allegedly ran
a red light. An 18-wheeler driving west crashed into them, knocking
the car into the tree line near the Century 21 office. The driver of the
car had to be removed from the vehicle with hydraulic extrication
tools, but her condition was unknown. Bates said the passenger was
conscious, but non-responsive.

Dallas boy

A Dallas police spokesperson said investigators
found skeletal human remains in a creek Saturday,
and it is likely those remains belong to missing 11-
year-old Jonathan Ramsey.
Julie Ramsey, Jonathan’s grandmother, said
police investigators came to her home shortly after
the discovery and told her the remains were most
likely Jonathan’s.
“They had an anthropologist out there and they
said they were a child’s bones,” Ramsey said.
“They’re pretty sure it’s him.”
Ramsey said the remains were found in a creek
near Sandswitch Road in southern Ellis County. She
said police had to partially drain the creek to find
the bones.
DPD Corporal Jerry Monreal would not confirm
the bones belonged to Jonathan, or the location of
where they were found.
“The remains were collected for testing,” he said.
“The medical examiner has to confirm.”
