We had 34 present Sunday.
The Sermon was on
“Changes.” How do you deal
with changes for the good and
bad. Joyce Brooks’ new
grandson, Caleb is still here but
visiting his other great
grandma, Jean Ballard I know
he is getting plenty good sugar.

Teachings from the Bible
The Way
Pro. 30” 5, 6. “Every word
of God is pure, He is a shield
unto them that put their trust
in Him. Add thou not unto His
words, lest He reprove thee,
and thou be found a liar.”
Luke 9: 35 “And there
came a voice out of the cloud
saying, This is my beloved
Son, hear Him.”
John 3:15 “For God so love
the world that He gave His
only begotten Son, that who-
soever believeth in Him should
not perish, but have everlast-
ing life.”
Now the question is: What
is “to believe?” Is it a state of
mind or does it require action?
If you believe in Christ, then
you must do His bidding.
Therefore it requires action.
John 14:15 “If you love me,
keep My commandments.”
John 14: 6 “Jesus said unto
them, I am the way, the truth
and the life, no man cometh
unto the Father, but by Me.”
II Tim. 3: 16,17 “All scrip-
ture is given by inspiration of
God, and it is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for cor-
rection, for instruction in righ-
teousness. That the man of
God may be perfect, thor-
oughly furnished unto all good
works.”
Heb. 1: 1-3 “God, who at
sundry times and in divers
manners spake in times past
unto the fathers by the proph-
ets, hath in these last days spo-
ken unto us by His Son, whom
He hath appointed heir of all
things, by whom also He made
the worlds, who being the
brightness of His glory, and the
express image of His person,
and upholding all things by the

—A Walk in the Light-
word of His power, when He
had by him self purged our sins,
sat down at the right hand of
the Majesty on high.”
Do you find your religious
beliefs in the Bible? Do you
find an example of a group
meeting once or twice a year
to decide what can or cannot
be taught in your chosen reli-
gion? Is the foundation for
your belief found in the Bible?
Is the man named as the
founder of your religion found
in the Bible?
Study your Bible. I Thess.
5: 21 “Prove all things. Hold
fast to that which is good.”
Rev. 22: 18, 19 “For I tes-
tify unto every man that
heareth the words of the
prophecy of this book, if any
man shall add unto these
things, God shall add unto him
the plagues that are written in
this book. And if any man shall
take away from the book of
this prophecy, God shall take
away his part in the book of
life, and out of the holy city,
and from the things which are
written in this book.”
The point is made in both
the Old and New Testaments
that God does not accept man
adding to or taking things from
His word.
Heb. 13: 8 “ Jesus Christ,
the same yesterday, and today
and forever.”
John 1: 1 “In the beginning
was the Word and the Word
was with God and the Word
was God.”

Christian Presents Resolution
to Bro. A1 Hancock naming
him “Gospel DJ of the Year”
Rep. Wayne Christian (R-
Center) recently presented
the Reverend A1 Hancock
with a Resolution from the
Texas House of Representa-
tives honoring his long-stand-
ing radio service to his fellow
Texans.
Bro. Hancock was hon-
ored with a celebration con-
cert for his outstanding radio
ministry as well as his selec-
tion as Gospel DJ of the Year
by SoutherNews. Sponsored
by the All American Gospel
Music Association, the con-
cert was a tribute to Bro.
Hancock for his dedication
throughout the 23-year history
of his radio program, the long-
est-running gospel show in
East Texas. “It is such an
honor to have such a fine
friend as Bro. Hancock. His
show is an inspiration to my-
self and all the other listeners
throughout our area.”
“He is really a local icon, a
man we should all show much
appreciation for,” Christian
said of Hancock.
Each Sunday from 7:30 to
10:00 a.m., A1 Hancock’s
Country Gospel program on
KYKS 105.1 FM enables lis-
teners throughout the entire
East Texas area to draw faith,
comfort & inspiration while
featuring southern gospel mu-

Pathway to
Epiphany Catholic Mission
The Lenten season begins
Feb. 13, a most suitable time
for taking a long look at our
spiritual lives beginning with
Ash Wednesday through Good
Friday. Each of us as Chris-
tians are exhorted to live in
the spirit of the church year
by making the entire Lenten
season spiritually meaningful
and beneficial through per-
sonal discipline, good works
and deeds.
When reflecting on the life
of Jesus, it is sometime hard
to believe that He was will-
ing to die for us. Yet it is our
belief. The Council of Nicea
commands us to confess, “I
believe in One Lord Jesus
Christ, the only Son of God,
who for us and our salvation
was crucified for us, suffered
and died and was buried.
Knowing all this, we continue
to offend vou But You Our
Savior, You came down from
Heaven to save what was
lost.”
In our reconciliation the
most soothing words are: “I
am sorry” and “you are for-
given.” The ability to forgi ve
and to be forgiven are truly
wonderful human gifts. An
apology or a plea for forgive-
ness in the adhesiveness of
life because it can mend al-
most every wrong. It soothes
the hurt and brings about rec-
onciliation.
Forgiveness and reconcili-
ation are not so much a learned
skill but the discovery of the
power of God. During Lent,
we should adhere to that
power through the sacrament
of reconciliation. A wise man
once said these words, “For-
giveness is an attitude of the
strong.?

Since February has been
set aside as Black History
Month, let me try to go back
to the Fifty-seventh Congress
and give unto you the man who
wrote the Declaration of
American Independence.
Sometime in the 1800’s
around 1813, Jefferson con-
ducted a voluminous corre-
spondence on religious sub-
jects with John Adams. In one
of his letters to Adams in
1813, the great statesman
gave this description of his
work.
Jefferson, in Evenings of
Escape from affairs of the
nation, prepared a preliminary
extraction which was his cus-
tom to read nightly before re-
tiring,. After removing to his
plantation at Monticello,
Jefferson spoke : We must
reduce our volume to the
simple, to evangelists, select,
even from them the very
works only of Jesus, paring off
the amphiblogisms into which
they have been led, by forget-
ting often, or not understand-
ing, what had fallen from Him
by giving their own miscon-
ceptions as His dicta and ex-
pressing unintelligibly for oth-
ers what they had not under-
stood themselves. There will
be found remaining the most
sublime and benevolent code
of morals which has ever
been offered to men.
In preparing this, Jefferson
performed his operation for his
own use by cutting verse by
verse. Three years later in
1816, Jefferson wrote from
Monticello to Charles Thomp-
son...
This book was placed in the
United States National Mu-
seum of Washington in 1895.
Jefferson waived any inten-
tion of publishing his compila-
tion with the words, “I not only
write nothing or religion, but
rarely permit myself to speak
on it.” However, the 57th con-
gress provided for publication
of a limited edition by photo-
lithographic process the vol-
ume to be given to the mem-
bers of the house and senate.
It was printed in 1904. That
year, R.B. Grace Sr. was born,
a little more than a century
after Jefferson first actively
began its compilation. By the
way, this book was called the
Jefferson Bible.
The Holy Bible says in
Matt. 5: 4, “Blessed are they
that mourn for they shall be
comforted.” While those
slaves were mourning and
Jefferson could not under-
stand what they were saying.
To me they were saying,
“Holy, holy, holy, come thou
Almighty King. Come thou
fount of every blessing, Still
still with Thee softly now the
light of Day, now the day is
over, Son of My Soul, thou
Savior Dear, there’s a wide-
ness in God’s mercy and de-
liverance will come.”
I saw a way-worn traveler
in tattered garments clad, his
back was laden heavy, his
strength was almost gone, the
summer sun was shining, the
sweat was on his brow, but he
kept pressing onward for he
was winding home. The song-
sters in the arbor that stood
beside the way. His watch-
word being onward, he
stopped his ears and ran. And
struggling up the mountain, it
seemed that he was sad, yet
he shouted as he journeyed,
deliverance will come. His
garments worn and dusty, his
steps seemed very slow, still
shouting as he journeyed, De-
liverance will come. Attracted
his attention, inviting his delay,
still shouting as he journeyed,
Deliverance will come.

That as much as 25,000 tons of waster copier toner is gen-
erated in the US every year? The waste toner is being blended
into asphalt to improve its strength and temperature resistance.
Texas Department of Transportation has completed one project
in Houston that used 20 tons of waste toner. A good thing for
Texans!
