I he tpiphany Catholic Mission
_By Fran Sobieski
The week of Christmas the
Catholic Church remembers St.
Stephen, St. John the Evangelist,
the Holy Innocents and St.
Thomas Becket.
Day 26; acclaimed a man full
of faith and the Holy Spirit,
Stephen was chosen as one of the
first of seven deacons of the early
Christian church. They were cho-
sen to assist the apostles in car-
ing for the needs of the commu-
nity.
As a Greek speaking Chri stian,
Stephen was entangled in the con-
troversy over whether or not to
open the gospel to the Gentiles.
For his arguments, using Scripture
to promote the spread of the Gos-
pel, Stephen was convicted of
blasphemy by the Jewish high
council and stoned to death, be-
coming the first Christian martyr.
Elements of Stephen's trial and
death are paraded to those of
Jesus. In court, they were ac-
cused of similar crimes, and at his
death, Stephen commemded his
spirit to God and asked that his
executioners be forgiven as Jesus
had done on the cross. While
Stephen's arguments were to
open the church to outsiders, his
conviction and death created a
short term persecution in Jerusa-
lem.
Day 27; The New Testament
refers to Peter, James and John,
the three fishermen of Galilee,
who were among the followers of
Jesus. They were a part of Jesus'
inner circle. He often spoke with
the three who viewed the Trans-
figuration of Jesus.
John grew up in Bethsaida,
learning the fishing trade form his
father, Zebedee.
After the death and resurrec-
tion of Jesus, John traveled with
Peter preaching their faith. They
were severely beaten and abused.
They were imprisoned by the
Temple leaders and by a miracle
released.
John returned to Samaria
where he and Peter were sum-
moned by Philip and evangelist,
because some of the Samaritans
had heard of and believed in Jesus
and asked to be baptized. The
apostles honored their request.
John returned to Jerusalem as
one of the leaders of the new
church. The New Testament
credits him as author of three
epistles and states that the John
who was exiled to Patmos Island
where he records a vision now
known as the Book of Revela-
tions. John's death is not recorded
but some second century records
place his death in Ephesus as an
old man.
Day 28; The Holy Innocents,
martyrs, are remembered. It is
because Herod believed the
words of the Magi and of the
High Priests whom he consulted
that he sees a rival in the Infant
of Bethlehem and with jealousy
of the new born King, Herod set
out to destroy Him. Read Mtt. 21:
13-18.
Day 29: The church remem-
bers St. Thomas Becket, Bishop,
Martyr. Thomas Becket, after
serving as chancellor of Henry II,
he was made archbishop of Can-
terbury. He fought against the
king for the liberty of the church.
He was slain Dec. 29, 1171.
Make the New Year a happy
one for you and those near and
dear to you.

Timpson Teachings from the Bible
Church of Christ_Dwavne Sowell. Min._936-569-9840
We are about begin a new
year. The world has celebrated
the birth of Christ, calling the
holiday Christmas. Many
invitations were sent and
accepted. Many more will be
issued and accepted for the New
Year's parties. But there is a
standing invitation open to
whosoever will that is ignored by
most of the world.
Matt. 11: 28-29 "Come unto
me, all ye that labor and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and
learn of me, for 1 am meek and
lowly in heart; and ye shall find
rest for your souls."
Mark 8: 34-35 "And when he
had called the people unto him,
with his disciples also, he said unto
them, Whosover will come after
me, let him deny himself and take
up his cross and follow me. For
whosoever will save his life shall
lose it, but whosoever shall lose
his life for my sake and the
gospel's shall save it."
The invitation is still open to-
day. In this country we do not face
the dangers of losing our physical
life for following after Christ; but
if we don't we will surely lose our
souls.
Christ did not ask that we cel-
ebrate his birth, but he com-
manded us to celebrate his death.
burial and resurrection.
Matt. 26: 26-28 "And as they
were eating, Jesus took bread, and
blessed it, and braked it, and gave
it to his disciples, and said, Take,
eat, this is my body. And he took
the cup, and gave thanks, and
gave it unto them, saying, Drink
ye all of it: for this is my blood of
the new testament, which is shed
for many for the remission of
sins."
ICor. 11: 26 "For as often as
ye eat this bread, and drink the
cup, ye do shew the Lord's death
till he comes."
His apostles taught we were to
do this on the first day of the
week.
Acts 20: 7 "And upon the first
day of the week, when he disciples
came together to break bread,
Paul preached unto them,..."
Do you remember Him on the
first day of the week? Once or
twice a year? Or when some man
decides He should be remem-
bered?
Most people make New
Years's resolutions, why not re-
solve to study, learn of Christ's
ways? Follow Christ, not some
man-made religious belief?
The Church of Chri st that gath-
ers in Timpson invites you to come
study and learn with us.

A Walk in The Light \Sc°erge 1
Third Time: T
ie United States Of sin? I believe that God may not
in Bible Prophecy from the Book
of Daniel. &: 1-28. You have to
the Book of Revelations to
discover that when the Bible talks
about the (SEA) it is talking about
people. Out of a sea of people
there came these beasts. We still
use this term. I have heard
preachers say that it looked like a
sea of faces. You hear this term
all the time. Remember 20: 15.
Exodus 29: 15.
The word sea as used in the
Book of Revelations and other
places in the Bible, when not di-
rectly connected with a particu-
lar sea, has to do with people.
There was a strife that Daniel saw
in the midst of all this change. But,
he saw a tripod of nations that
brought to a close the end of this
age. The fourth beast, the Anti-
christ, is the final wind up of ev-
erything that is as far as human
government is concerned, but
Daniel saw the arrangement. It
was not five nations that he saw
something like 3,000 years ago,
but he saw three nations. I know
that today in the great political
arena since WW II we have had
France mentioned and others but
primarily, it has been Russia, Brit-
ain and America that has domi-
nated the scene in our time. The
great tripod of nations that Daniel
saw would close in the end time
and make up that last arrange-
ment of human government. The
final government before the An-
tichrist. We are living in the last
moments. Ex. 20: 15.
As Daniel looked he saw ex-
actly by the Spirit of God, the ar-
rangement of things. He saw the
governments in their order and
how they would come before the
Antichrists. The question I would
like to put before you is how much
time have we got before the An-
tichrist swallows this earth in
seven years of blood bath? How
much time have we got before this
thing finds its fulfillment in the man

describe it in minutes or hours but
I believe that we can put our fin-
ger on the longitude and latitude
of the world and follow God's
timetable in this Bible. We can put
our finger not only on where we
are in time, but we can put it on
there geographically. This thing
has circled the earth. It is about
back where it started from. If
there ever was a generation of
people that faced the close of a
civilization, it is those who live to-
day. Remember 20: 16.
God has said that the final
arousing of things would be in the
East. World dominion is given by
God. Don't you ever forget it.
There may have been a time
when the devil seemed to sit on
the throne, by God Almighty sets
over the nations and kingdom
whomsoever He will. At Shinar,
the Bible says the Evil Seed of
Cain went eastward. There you
have in the East and the Orient.
Rev. B.H. Clendenen spoke, say-
ing that he and his wife traveled
through India, Bankok, and down
into Vietnam, Hong Kong and
Tokyo. There you do not find a
nation whose God is the Lord.
They turned at Shinar and East
has been east and filled with idola-
try. And it is still filled with idola-
try. The Gospel went west from
Shinar and civilization and world
dominion has followed the sun and
never reversed the order. It started
in Meda-Persia, moved to
Babylon, Greece and Rome to this
present day. The only attempt to
reverse the movement of that
Gospel was made by a preacher
named Paul. The Bible says that
Paul set his heart to go to Asia. Paul
was a messenger of the revela-
tion. Whereever he went was a
direction of that Gospel. He was
not just an ordinary preacher. He
was a dispensational man who
came on the scene with a revela-
tion for the church. It was impor-
tant that he moved with God. He
started to Asia and the spirit of
God stopped him and turned him
to Europe. The gospel has pro-
gressively moved westward. Flave a
blessed New Year.
