New Hope News A,,.-r.
McClendon
Hello everybody. Do hope all
are well. I have lots of friends sick.
Some in the hospital not doing
good like Betty Hansey. May the
Lord bless them with His love.
Alzora’s children are up to her
house spraying. Brought the bird
down to my house. I sure did en-
joy him. He fussed at first then
went to sleep.
My letters are getting lost
somehow. Jean, I lost your phone
number. Please sent me another
one. Mrs. Laura Rainbolt is work-
ing at Texas State Bank. I am al-
ways glad to see her. She is so
sweet. She and her husband, Bo
Rainbolt used to live at Caledonia.
We sure miss them.
Called Louise. She said she
was happy her son Don was there
from Houston. When you get old,
you stay lonesome. Looks like the
have to sit home and walk places.
No body won’t take you out to eat
anymore. Our church took us out
Sunday. We went to where there
was a cafeteria bar. I ate too
much. Enjoyed it. Wish for Ollie
Barr. Boy, can he hide the food,
too! That’s my hobby.
Glad that Mrs. Bonnett has
stopped working. I love her. I miss
her while she was working at the
hospital.
I hope Mr. Ken Ramsey, Mr.
Clarks, Mr. Koteras, Lake
Timpson, Mr. Orval Miller, if he
don’t bring me no more fish,
Davis, Tommie Howard and
Johnnie Sparks, all had a Happy
Father’s Day. Any of you I
missed, Happy Father’s Day to
you. If you don’t have children,
try to have some by next Father’s
Day. That means you, too, Ollie.
world is passing you by and you

Tenaha invites
everyone to
enjoy the 4th
The citizens of Tenaha invite ev-
eryone to come spend a delightful
evening at Tiger Stadium, Wednes-
day, July 4th as we observe the 225th
birthday of our great Nation. Activi-
ties get underway at 8 P.M.. with the
program starting around 8:15. The
evening will feature patriotic and re-
ligious songs, and other events that
are appropriate for the occasion.
A concession stand featuring
drinks, popcorn, patriotic snow
cones and other goodies are being
planned. All proceeds for this ven-
ture will go to defray expenses of the
evening.
The gigantic fireworks display will
follow the program and is under the
capable direction of Robert Barton,
Drue Scull and others. This has al-
ways been a real treat for our young-
sters and adults alike. Tell your
friends the place to be on July 4th is
Tiger Stadium in Tenaha, Texas.
It will be a great evening that all
"red-blooded Americans" will
enjoy...a special time to listen to fine
patriotic and Christian music with
your friends and neighbors. Remem-
ber everyone in the Tenaha area ex-
tends a special invitation to be with
us...its FREE (except concessions)
with funds provided by the local or-
ganizations and the sponsors that ap-
pear on the program that evening.
Well, been out of pocket in
Huntsville for a week. I had to
attend mandatory classes to
maintain my peace officer certi-
fication. The classes were very
interesting but it's hard for an "old
dog" to sit for a long period of
time everyday for a week. Any-
way, we made it back and are
glad about that!!

First Baptist had a good crowd
Sunday morning. Brother Bill
brought a good message. Sunday
evening, the church will travel to
the Methodist church to hear and
welcome the new pastor.
»>«<
Please plan on being here for
the great July 4th celebration at
Tiger stadium that Wednesday
evening. There will be great sing-
ing and a super fireworks display.
Cold drinks and so forth will be
available. Come spend the
evening and give thanks for this
country we live in!

| Chamber from page 1 1
In the regular meeting of the
Chamber Thursday, twelve offic-
ers and directors were present.
George Green read a letter from
the Chainring Challenge Riders
expressing their appreciation for
the hospitality shown them during
their recent visit. Green said that
the camp ground was all in good
shape and it proved to be a memo-
rable time for all.
Jerry Wood told the group that
classes for computer instruction
would begin July 15. Computers
and desks are in place and we will
soon be internet-ready.
President Corder began a dis-
cussion on setting a permanent
date for Frontier Day which will
be continued. No date was set.
Finalizing plans for Frontier
Day was the main focus of the
meeting; prizes, booths, site man-
agement, clean up crews, ant
eradication, judges for the cookoff
and parade line up by Joyce Moore
was outlined. Decorations, games,
gospel music, entertainment, se-
curity and insurance was set.

The most memorable battle for
the Texas Independence occurred
at the Spanish mission in San An-
tonio. A deciding element in the
battle of the Alamo occurred when
the commander, Colonel Travis
called his men together, drew his
sword and made a line on the
ground. He gave his men a
chance to leave without shame.
All of the men crossed the line to
join their leader. They knew they
were probably going to die. Their
sacrifice is still a reminder of the
price of freedom. Lord, I will fol-
low you even when the outlook is
bleak! Open windows, Summer
2001.
Bits of Vision
Today I saw... the guard light at our
church burning.. .right in the middle
of the week, and on a dreary day.
How appropriate ... that guard light
is not Sunday Christian.
