May 30,2003 Martinsville Project Graduation drew the
name of Robert Cousins as the winner of the 2003

Thank You
I would like to take this opportunity to
say “Thank You” for all of the prayers,
visits, cards, phone calls and gifts during
my recent stay in the hospital. The Lord
answers prayers, and I am now on my
way to a full recovery.
Thank you.

THURSDAY ALREADY
... IN TENAHA by Tom Reader
What a quick summer va-
cation! Time for school
clothes and school supplies. I
hope everyone enjoyed the
time off. We will very soon be
back on the school bus. It’s
neat to see how young people
have grown in 2 1/2 months.

We solved a crime com-
mitted by juveniles yesterday.
Six went into a home and de-
stroyed the inside. Justice for
Juveniles is hard to accom-
plish, but be sure we will do
all that we can do to these six
young men who need a les-
son. (Maybe called “tough
love,” but they need more than
that.

First Baptist Tenaha says
goodbye to Billy McDaniel.
Billy is the education and
youth director and will be
moving to a church in Nacog-
doches. He is a good friend
and I indeed will miss him.
The church has enjoyed great
success in the Youth and Edu-
cation Dept. Good luck, Billy.
You will forever be my friend.

Kuestions for Kops
I was stopped by a Police
officer who warned me about
not moving to the inside lane
when he was behind me when
the lights were on. Was I
wrong in not doing so?
You should always move to
the outside lane when an emer-
gency vehicle is behind you
with its flashing lights on.
There is a Senate Bill that has
been sent to the Governor for
signature that requires a ve-
hicle that is passing a station-
ary emergency vehicle to move
away from the lane that is
closet to the emergency ve-
hicle and to reduce speed to
at least 20 MPH below the
posted speed limit unless that
speed limit is already 20 MPH.
If any injuries result from the
violation it would be a Class B
Misdemeanor.
It would be wise to yield to
any emergency vehicle.

care in Belize.
PANOLA COLLEGE AND STUDENTS & FAC-
ULTY TRAVEL TO BELIZE
Recently, twenty-two volun-
teers, including two nursing stu-
dents and two nursing instructors
from Panola College, traveled to
the Toledo District in southern
Belize, Central America, to provide
health care to remote villagers.
Panola College students Kelli
Washer, of Keithville LA and
Shirley Kimbrell, of Kilgore TX
and Associate Degree Nursing
instructors Dr. Barbara Cordell
and Dawn Johnson made the trek
to Belize on the mission of mercy.
Many of the villages are acces-
sible only by hiking along a foot-
path, and they have no running
water or electricity. Very little
health care is available to the in-
habitants, these volunteers are
often the only health care pro-
viders to come along each year.
This year the group saw 1042 pa-
tients in five days, took care of
many serious infections and in-
juries.
