Thursday Already! In
Voice of Doyce
Felt like it would be just a
dragging week after all of the fun
we had at homecoming. I was
wrong again as usual.
On Thursday night, the Jun-
ior High football team beat
Beckville. That was exciting for
them. Then Friday night we trav-
eled to Beckville. I am sure that
I was not the only one apprehen-
sive when the Tigers traveled to
Beckvill the next night. Oh me,
we of little faith. They really put
a thrashing on them. Then on
Saturday morning, our “Roaring
Band from Tigerland” traveled to
Longview for UIL marching and
received a “1”. Congratulations
to the band members, Ms.
Khatri, and Ms. Wagnon. It is so
good to hear spectators mention
how good they are.
Douglas Barton was buried
yesterday in Restland Cemetery.
He entered into rest October 21,
2006. Pallbearers were Don
Watkins, James Rickman, Brent
Barton, Kalen Smith, Gary Mize
and Tom Reader. Please remem-
ber his mother, Glaydis and the
remainder of the family as they
accept this loss of their loved
one. Douglas graduated from
TISD and was a long time sup-
porter of the sport programs.
Ryan Linebarger, Donald
Hataway, Lewis Johnson, Mar-
garet Parkman, Kelly Baker and
Elaine Yarbrough are celebrating
their birthdays this week.
A special greeting to Ryan
Ballard as his birthday is Satur-
day. He and his mother, Shannan
Ballard may celebrate together as
hers is on the 31 st of this month.
FBC will have their annual
Fall Fest this Sunday evening.
Hotdogs will be served in Fel-
lowship Hall at six o’clock and
then the children will go to the
gym for games and prizes. Adults
will have a fim evening of games
and prizes will be awarded in
many of the categories. Come
have fun with us.
Don’t forger to change your
clock Saturday night as you go
to bed. You may want to get up
at 2 o’clock to change it but not
me and my house.
Eddie bought Bear a dog-
house today. He will not be in it
except when we are away from
the house. Give lots of thought
before you get a dog. I am so glad
that I am not organized enough
to have kept up with the ex-
penses. He also had to have a
new leash this week. Completely
wore out the one we had and we
were using some small rope. That
was not a good feeling on my
hands when he wanted loose to
chase the cats. Crossed Fm 947
two times yesterday. He just
knew Geoge Gipson needed
company as he mulched leaves.
I am so glad we have good neigh-
bors.
Mr. J. E. Figley is home from
the hospital. I know Tenaha
looked good to him.
Bro. Russ has a cold or some
related illness. Ms. Elwanda
Ogden is in surgery as I write
this. Doctors though it best to
remove the kidney.
Deanne Evans is home from
the hospital I know she hated
missing those few days of hold-
ing Lucas in her arms.
Can you believe that four
weeks from Thursday and it will
be Thanksgiving Day. Bo told
me that his whole family will be
at his daughter’s house. Linda
lives in Nacogdoches. We will no
more than look up and Christ-
mas will be upon us.
Saw a little cartoon in the pa-
per with this small child report-
ing that he liked the way “Fall
put on her makeup”.. The trees
are beautiful right now. So many
colors. Then when spring comes,
will be so many shades of green.
Oh, the wonders of the Lord.
If you allow your children to
“trick or treat” please make sure
you are with them.
I think most towns encourage
homeowners to leave a front
porch light on if you want to have
children visit you. It as been
years since we had visitors. Ten-
nessee Community just grew
their kids up and we just don’t
have any little ones.
I know you were so pleased
to see all the Homecoming pic-
tures in last weeks paper. Such a
good job T&T News.
Best bring this to a close. See
you in church.

The Road to R.E.C.O.V.E.R.Y
We’ve been looking at how do
you handle your hurts, habits,
and the hang-ups that are mess-
ing up your life. Jesus started The
Sermon on the Mount by saying,
“I want to give you eight steps
to happiness, eight principles
that will bring happiness to your
life.” Today we call those eight
principles the Beatitudes.
“Happy are those who know they
are spiritually poor.” That’s Step
1 - Realize Fm not God, that
Fm powerless to control my ten-
dency to do the wrong thing and
my life is unmanageable.
“Happy are those who mourn for
they shall be comforted.” Step 2
Hope Step - Although Fm pow-
erless to control all the problems
and all things in my life, God has
the power to control them. Ear-
nestly believe that God exists,
that I matter to Him and He has
the power to help me recover.
“Happy are the Meek.” Meek-
ness means under control; it does
not mean weak. It means
strength under control. Step 3
“Consciously choose to Commit
all my life and will to Christ’s
care and control.” “Happy are the
pure in heart.” Step 4 Openly
examine, and confess my faults
to God, myself, and to someone
I trust. To have a pure heart you
must clear out the garbage.
“Happy are those whose desire
is to do what God requires.”
Step 5 Voluntarily submit to ev-
ery change God wants to make
in my life and humbly ask Him
to remove my character defects.
“Happy are the merciful” - to
people who’ve hurt me and
“Happy are the peacemakers” -
to people I’ve hurt. Step 6
Evaluate all my relationships,
offer forgiveness to those who’ve
hurt me and make amends for
harm I’ve done to others, except
when to do so would harm them
or others. When you know you
are poor in spirit, want to com-
mit your life and will to Christ,
have examined your faults and
confessed them to God, volun-
tarily submit to God’s changes
in your life, have evaluated your
relationships then you desire to
know more about God and allow
him to tell you his plan for you
and to continue that change.
Then the next natural thing is
Step 7 “Reserving a daily time
with God for self-examination,
Bible reading and prayer in or-
der to know God and His will
for my life and gain the power to
do His will for my life.” Go
ahead with God’s plan even
though you might suffer ridicule
and persecution. Step 8 “Yield
myself to God to be used to bring

Good News to others by both my
example and my words.” People
are helped when you are honest
about your weaknesses. They
say, “I can relate to that.” As you
share from your hurts, habits and
hang-up of things you are recov-
ering from, God want to use you.
When you understand that God
uses your weaknesses and pain,
life takes on a whole new mean-
ing. The proof of recovery is
when you begin to focus outside
of yourself. You stop being so
self absorbed - my needs, my
hurts, my problems - and you
start saying, “How can I help
other people?”
Why has God allowed my
pain. lj.He has given me free
will. 2). He uses it to get our at-
tention 3). God uses pain to teach
me to depend on Him 4).God al-
lows pain to give me a ministry
to others. How do I use my pain
to help other people? Share you
story. Three suggestions in shar-
ing your story 1). Be humble 2).
Be real 3). Don’t lecture
A challenge to 4 action steps;
1). If you have not yet commit-
ted your life to Jesus Christ, do
so today. 2). Write your story out.
3). Commit yourself to some
church family for support - not
just church attendance. 4). Ask
God to give you somebody you
could share your story with, to
share the good news of how God
can make the difference in
somebody’s life.

'Tenaha Church of Christ CMews By ciark Panin
Another beautiful Sunday in
Tenaha. It was good to have
Aaron in from college to lead the
singing. He always does such a
beautiful job. Aubrey’s lesson
dealt with “A Glimpse of
Heaven”. What is your percep-
tion of Heaven ? What do you
picture when you think of
Heaven ? Perhaps we think
about the descriptions we are
given by John from his revela-
tion of Heaven.. He self admits
that he can’t even write it all
down, and that he can’t really tell
of what he saw. He did speak of
streets of gold, walls of jasper,
gates of pearl, etc. Is this what
we envision? (1). We will wor-
ship, but without distraction.
Our worship will not not be
forced. There will be no pretense.
There will be no false motives,
or divided motives. We won’t
care what anyone else may think!
All pretense will be lost to true
and pure praise to God. Can you
picture this? I think the best
we’ve ever encountered is far
less than we can even imagine
in heaven, and we will all be a
part of this unhampered worship.
(2). We will SERVE, but with-
out exhaustion. God didn’t make
us to be idle creatures in his ser-
vice. That practice is always con-
demned. God has us busy and
productive in our service to Him.
Here, we serve God in many
ways, but the way that is most
visible and evident is in our ser-
vice to mankind. When we work,
and serve man through our day
to day jobs, we often get tired.
We become weary in our service.
Just imagine the day when we
will serve God with every fiber
that we have, and never get tired.
When we have given all, we will
want to give more to Him. (3).
Though we are often timid and
sheepishly step up to be heirs of
our King, the Bible says that in
heaven, we shall reign with Him,
and with no fear of failure. We
will not fail because the over-
comers will be able to sit with
Christ and reign on His throne.
We will rule with no degree of
failure. The surety of this fact
awaits us in heaven. (4). We will
have fellowship in heaven, but
without suspicion or conflict.
Will we recognize one another in
heaven? Will we get along? Are
the visions we have of reuniting
with loved ones true? From
scripture, it certainly seems that
would be the case. How great it
will be to participate in the great
fellowship , with none of the
drawbacks that affect us here.
(5). Finally, Heaven will be a
place of Rest, but not a place
where that rest is boredom. It will
be a rest that will be continual,
yet it will never grow old. So,
what is your perception of
heaven? So many things we will
do, that we do now, but then we
will do them purely, perfected.
No distractions, and with added
dimension. What a day, glorious
day, that will be.
