the children and for those of you
who took the time and effort to
work on this project, we thank
you. It only takes a mere few dol-
lars to make a light shine in the eyes
of a child and make their Christ-
mas special. Just one small gift
from each family would make
some child happy. You could do
without a few extra snacks a week
to get this together if you wanted
to.
I enjoyed to football game last
Friday night in Timpson. The se-
niors were honored by the band and
lots of tears were shed as it was
the last home game for them. The
band performed an impressive T
formation and then marched around
the T while playing. The twirlers
performed and did a great job as
usual. I really enjoyed the evening
and folks remember that this was
only a game and that these are our
boys. They will always be number
one to us!!! Remember your
Timpson Pride!!
Herman and I went out for a
few minutes to visit with our
daughter, Emily, on her 21 st birth-
day. She and the kids were playing
in the yard. It is hard to believe that
21 years ago I brought her home.
She is just as beautiful to me now
as she was the first time I ever laid
eyes on her. Happy Birthday,
Honey!! I will always love you!!
Herman and Ruby both cel-
ebrated birthdays on the 13th. We
visited with Ruby Crump and she
was having a good day. Had a birth-
day party for Herman that night.
Will tell more about it next week.
Jackie and I attended a 16th
birthday party for Brooke Bowlin,
held at the game room on Sunday
afternoon. She had a good time
with her friends and family. Mon-
day night her mom, Leisa
Chadwick, had a Pampered Chef
party and I enjoyed visiting with
them in their home. Also, enjoyed
seeing Monica Eakin Fitzerald.
Haven't had a chance to chat with
her in a long time. She and I were
school friends and really had a good
time talking with Leisa about old
times.
Visited with KW and Lucille
Decker over the weekend. They
were doing fine. Mother has some
really pretty tomato plants in her
greenhouse!! Daddy will celebrate
a birthday on the 24th!
Pegi Corcorran enjoyed having
her son, Mark, from California visit
with her for the weekend. They
came over for us to meet him while
here. They traveled around the
neighboring towns to show Mark
around.
Cleona Laviolette enjoyed visit-
ing with her sons over the week-
end. We missed her in church on
Sunday.
I saw Laura Ross in the yard
with little Ryan Golden in his stroller
Monday afternoon. Was a beauti-
ful day to be outside. Better get in
as much sunshine as we can as it
will soon be too cold!! We visited
with Linda and Javier Garcia for a
few minutes on Monday afternoon.
They are doing fine.
Was good to see Glen and
Imogene Pierce back in church
Sunday. Glen had facial surgery
last week but seemed to be doing
great and healing really well.
Our sympathy is with the fam-
ily of John Paul Johnson, who
passed away and was buried at Mt.
Olive last week. He was a member
of our church.
A dear friend of ours, Bill
Meroney of Tenaha, was hit by a
truck while walking across the
street on Friday and was air lifted
to LSU in Shreveport where he is
in critical condition. Please remem-
ber him in your prayers this week
and also his family as they are at
his bedside.
Justin and Rebecca Oliver came
over on Saturday afternoon on their
new street legal rail car. Justin and
granddaughter, Jackie, had fun
riding in the mud and doing donuts
in the back property. Joe Goff
came over later in the evening. He
was here visiting his grandmother
Mary Neill, who recently had sur-
gery and needs our continued
prayers. Joe injured his knee and
has really been suffering with it
too!! Those knee and leg injuries
are really painful!
Kathi Townes enjoyed dinner
with us Sunday after church. She
said that Bro. Sammy Eldredge was
having some heart problems and
was to go to the hospital for more
testing and procedures. Please re-
member him this week!
Glen and Linda Hudson had their
sons down for the weekend and
enjoyed seeing them. Beth, Dana
and Kylie Andrews visited with
them too.
The monthly fin night at Mt.
Olive was slim this month as there
were lots of things going on.
Maybe a bigger turnout next
month. We will have our annual
Thanksgiving dinner at the church
this Sunday. This is a family event
so tell your family and friends to
come and join us!! It will be tis
Sunday, Nov. 18th. Hope to see you
there.
Talked with Wanda Mayo and
grandson, Kenneth, the other af-
ternoon. They were fine.
Well folks, I bet the newspaper
will be tired of me by now, so I
will continue the Silas News saga
next week. So, until then, God
Bless...

Hey folks! Sorry for not getting
my news in last week. We were
called out of town with sick folks
and left on Monday not arriving
home until Thursday. Virginia Max-
well, my kids' grandma, had seri-
ous surgery and was in intensive
care a few days. Andy, Jody and
Allysha Stephens and Emily and
Hayden Groce went on Tuesday
for the day. It was a hard trip for
them, but they each took a turn
driving which helped a great deal.
We also visited with Linda Swonke
in Taylor, and Juanita Bewley in
Round Rock while there. Their
families were all gone for the day
but we enjoyed the visits anyway.
Virginia was in the Scott-White
Hospital in Temple and I tell you
this, they are on top of things medi-
cally!! Wish they were closer to
us!!
Sue Schulz enjoyed visiting last
weekend with her friends , Harvia
Luke of LaMarque and Brenda

I've been busy this morning
putting Thanksgiving decorations
in the dining room, making sure
everyone's hair is combed and
checking on all the residents. Mrs.
Dora Weatherford went to the
hospital Sunday. Everyone else
seems to be doing fine. Please re-
member Mrs. Dora when you
pray.
Mrs. Gladys Clay is down in
the lobby listening to the Monday
morning singing and Mrs. Nancy
McNease is out in the hall near
her room listening. I'm so glad
these ladies are able to be up and
out of their rooms.
Mrs. Lois Powers said she
went out with her family Satur-
day. She had a wonderful time.
She said she really enjoyed the
good old home cooking.
Saturday, November 3, Mrs.
Alice Pitt's family came and gave
her a birthday part out on the pa-
tio. They had balloons, cake and
ice cream. Everyone was invited

nuts last Friday.

tive Baptist, accompanied by his

their families attending and also
Noah Walker. Oh yes, Happy Birth-
day Noah, on November 13th!!
Have a great one.
I had a very successful Home
Interior Party last weekend with
about twenty five attending. We
had loads of fun and saw lots of
new and pretty things for decorat-
ing a home.
Had lots of trick or treaters for
the first time since we moved to
town. Really enjoyed seeing the
little ones all dressed up in their
costumes and most of them were
very polite in saying "thank you".
Matt Hudman, who was seri-
ously injured in a four wheeler ac-
cident the week before last, is
showing some signs of improve-
ment. Please remember the family
at this time as they care for him.
Cans have been placed around town
for donations to help in the expense.
Rachel Samford was taken to
the hospital from church on Sun-
day seriously ill and scared us all
half to death. She is such a sweet
lady and we hope she feels better
soon. We are praying for you,
Rachel!!

Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor,
On November 2, 2001, there
was an accident on Railroad Av-
enue around 9:30 p.m. It involved
a 4-wheeler. There are several ru-
mors circulating the town of
Timpson concerning the fact that
the person driving the four-wheeler
at this time of night was run off
the road. I do not know all the de-
tails of the accident as my children
and myself were at the San Augus-
tine football game at this time. I do
know that my husband was com-
ing home and saw a young girl
standing in the middle to the dirt
road. He stopped and saw that they
needed to help of the EMS. He
went to a neighbors 200 yards
down the road past the wreck to
call for the DPS and EMS. He then
went back and sat with the young
man until help could arrive. I hope
this clears up any rumors or mis-
understandings. You also might
refer to the DPS report for any
further information on what might
have occurred.
Sincerely,
Priscilla Pipes
