Erath County Places
10th In Oat Production
With a total crop of 514,000
bushels, Erath County placed
tenth in 197$" Texas oat
production.
According to Agriculture
Commissioner John C. White,
county farmers harvested some
11,400 acres with an average
yield of 45.1 bushels per acre.
Most areas of the state had
moderate to heavy rains in late
August and September that
provided excellent surface and
subsurface moisture for plant-
ing. Seeding was completed by
the end of October. Early
growth was good, with many
fields enjoying adequate to
surplus moisture, and many
farmers were not able to graze
the crip since fields were too wet
or muddy.
Grazing increased as fields
began to dry, but growth rates
exceeded grazing in some
localities and rank, unpalatable
forage developed. Harvest for
grain started on schedule in late
April, but because of rains, ran
behind schedule in May reach-
ing completion in early July.
Texas ranked eleventh in
production last year with a crop
of 19.5 million bushels.
Cooke County ranked first in
the state with over 816 thousand
bushels.
Complete figures on small
grains have been compiled in
the “1975 Texas Small Grain
Statistics." Copies may be
obtained by writing John C.
White, Commissioner, Texas
Department of Agriculture,
P.O. Box 12847, Austin, Texas

Have You Registered?
1976 will be an important election year for Texans.
Citizens will cast ballots for President, a United States
Senator, 24 Congressmen, and many state and local
officials. It would be regrettable if, on election day,
any citizen could not vote because he was not
registered.
Apathy, unconcern, indifference and the idea that one
vote does not count have caused a troublesome
situation which no pat formulas can rectify. However, >
this office plans to make an effort to remedy this by
conducting a statewide campaign to inform Dublin
citizens on voter registration.
Use this voter registration application below - fill it out
and mail to your Erath County Tax Assessor-
Collector’s Office in Stephenville.
